Introduction
Begin the lesson by taking students down to the
gym. Once in the gym, inform the class that in this
lesson they will be further learning about, and
developing their skills in, Tee-Ball. To warm up,
instruct students to run two laps of the court.
Body
Hold a discussion with the students about the game
Tee-ball, going over how to play, and what the rules
are. Take the students for a walk around the bases
to remind them which way they are supposed to
run, and informing them that they must touch the
bases. Inform the students that they are going to do
some fielding practise. Throw the ball to the other
side of the gym, and ask one student to get the ball
and put it in the bucket. Time the student to see
how long it takes them to get the ball and put it in
the bucket. Then, ask five students to field for the
ball, placing them in between the back of the gym
and the bucket. Throw the ball again and time how
long it takes. Hold a discussion with the students
about which way of fielding is more effective; alone,
or working together. Split students up into two
groups, and inform students that they are to spread
out in between the back of the gym and the bucket.
Hand two students the ball, and inform them that
they are to race to see who can get the ball in the
bucket first. Do this a couple of times until students
show that they can work together well.
Hold a discussion with the students about the
importance of watching the ball when running
around the bases. Give examples of when students
should stop, and maybe when they could keep
running. Allow students to practise running around
the bases, and stopping when the ball lands in, or is
close to, the bucket.
Split students into two teams and play a game of
Tee-ball.
