What can you do with a computer science degree?

In the world today, every occupation, in some form or another, are dependent
on computing technology. A computer gives us the opportunity to make quick and
critical decisions without error, that we may have been left to do ourselves, in a
worse situation. A computer science degree isnt only for the type A personality that
fixes desktops in your local IT department. Literally any passion you decide you
want to pursue in your life can be widely beneficial through a computer science
degree. And there are many opportunities to be taken

A Database engineer is very useful to large corporations that have lots of

complex data to organize. Businesses such as banks, accounting firms, or really
any model that requires the storing of lots of information will benefit from a
database engineer. Michael Hillenbrand from Techtarget.com shares with us that A
DBA's primary responsibility is to ensure that the database is available, is
performing properly and is kept safe. And though they dont control and manage
the main infrastructure of your computer network, like a System Administrator, they

provide the safe keeping, and smooth accessibility of that sensitive data, your
business thrives on every day.

Like Id shared in my previous example, a System Administration engineer

will control the clients/workstations that keep your business functioning. In todays
field, their commonly known as System Administrators, or Sys Admins for slang.
System Administrators can be considered the IT backbone for any company that has
more than just a few workstations implemented into their daily task force. Their
mainly utilized skill is Problem Solving as Vivek Gite from CyberCiti.com puts it.
The system administrators will manage your file sharing paths, email accounts and
printing stations. In addition to implementing simple security steps to protect you
from outside attackers on the internet. It benefits them to have at least a bit of
experience in coding. To better understand the machines needed to run these
processes.

A software developer is probably the fastest growing occupation in the IT

industry. In a day where almost every household in America has a device in some
form or another, average American people use complex created algorithms to
perform everyday tasks. For instance, everyone uses the internet, why not try your
hand in web development? Businesses are always looking to improve their
advertising through the internet. And like Christina Mercer from TechWorld.com
shares The mobile sector is booming and web developers can easily transition into
mobile development. Which is a huge contribution to myself, that does about 50%
of my daily workload on either mobile websites, or mobile applications. Getting the

swing of learning a programming language can be a strong learning curve, but what
an exciting time it is to get into that field. And according to usnews.com The BLS
reports the median annual wage for computer programmers was $77,550 in 2014, making that
field certainly a very finically stable career choice. And software developers even need quality
assurance testers! People that understand the software, as well as the needs of the business
model, to carefully diagnose the holes in the programs.

As you can see from the examples weve read today, every direction you can take with a
computer science degree are limitless. Anywhere from managing a small businesses network, to
safe keeping the data of a large bank with hundreds of thousands of accounts. And you can
start as small as developing a simple website, not only for businesses purposes, but simply for
your own satisfaction. The moneys there for those willing to earn it, and the opportunity for those
willing to take it. With a technology thats ever increasing, youll have the job security, financial
stability, and engaging environment to do whatever you want with a computer science degree.
