SYSTEM INTEGRATION
Thales UK Underwater Systems has extended its capability
beyond the supply of antenna products and systems and also
specialises in the integration of submarine communication
systems including a paricular expertise with the installation
and operation of UHF SATCOM.

The Company has achieved considerable success through

the provision of innovative Contractor Logistic Support (CLS)
arrangements to deliver a complete availability based
service. The experience gained has enabled Thales UK to
offer continuous improvement to the service provided at a
reducing level of cost.

Consequently, significant experience has been developed

working with major modern UHF SATCOM manufacturers
thus enabling the provision of a turnkey solution when
required. Support can also be provided to a Customer during
the overall communications systems installation phase.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND EXPERTISE

Thales UK can provide all the necessary expertise to fully
install and integrate the core technology required for Naval
communications systems. The antennas available can be
installed with a a Thales designed, non-hull penetrating,
lightweight composite mast for submarines. Alternatively,
antennas can be integrated and installed on a variety of
masts from other manufacturers if preferred.

As a developer and manufacturer of both submarine mast

and antenna solutions, Thales UK has a vast experience in
the integration of such equipment on board a platform. In
addition to the provision of antennas and individual antenna
control units, Thales UK also has significant experience in the
provision of RF distribution systems.

this is supported by a dedicated assembly and test facility
including an automated antenna test range.

The associated equipment between the antenna and the

communications system infrastructure includes specialist RF
Distribution, Switching, Filtering and Amplifier design. Thales
UK can also offer Subject Matter Expertise consultancy to
cover all major military sub-systems; VLF, HF, UHF SATCOM
and GPS.
In addition, Thales UK has experience integrating many
commerial systems such as GMDSS, AIS, Iridium and
Inmarsat.
