Austria - Visa information and lodgement


This visa office provides immigration and visa services to clients in Austria and seven other European countries including:
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
Note: Permanent visa applications from clients currently residing in Kosovo can also be lodged at the Australian Embassy in
Belgrade.

Permanent entry visas


Partner, prospective marriage andchild visa applications from applicants usually living in one of the countries in the country
coverage list above are lodged and processed in Vienna.
Applications for general skilled, business innovation and investment, Distinguished Talent (subclass 124), Former Resident
(subclass 151) and parent subclasses are lodged and processed in Australia.

Refugee and Humanitarian visas


Clients from Europe whose application for a Refugee and Humanitarian (Class XB) visa is accompanied by a proposal form (form
681) must lodge their application at the departments NSW Offshore Humanitarian Processing Centre.
This applies to people who are lodging a visa for consideration under the Global Special Humanitarian Program (SHP) or as an
immediate family member.

All other Refugee and Humanitarian applications should be directed to the closest immigration office outside Australia .

Temporary entry visas


Visitor, working holiday, student and other temporary entry visa applications from applicants usually living in one of the countries
in the country coverage list above are lodged and processed in Vienna, unless otherwise indicated below.
Passport holders from Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovak Republic and Slovenia who are travelling to Australia for up to
three months for tourism or business purposes are eligible to apply online for eVisitor.

Croatian passport holders who want to visit Australia for less than three months and passport holders from Austria, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Hungary, Slovak Republic and Slovenia who want to visit Australia for more than three months are eligible to apply
online for a Visitor visa (subclass 600).

Passport holders from Austria are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) through travel agents and airlines.

400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Activity) visa. Visa applicants may make paper applications at an Australian diplomatic
mission, or an online application if they are eligible passport holders.
401 Temporary Work (Long-stay Activity) visa Exchange, Sport and Religious Worker streams. Sponsorship and nomination
applications are lodged and processed at the Hobart Office in Tasmania, attention Specialist Temporary Entry Centre. Visa
applicants who are outside Australia must lodge their visa applications at an Australian diplomatic mission. Visa applicants who
are in Australia must lodge their visa applications at the Hobart office in Tasmania - attention Specialist Temporary Entry Centre.
401 Temporary Work (Long-stay Activity) visa Domestic Worker (Executive) stream. Sponsorship, nomination and visa
applications are lodged and processed at the Canberra office in Australian Capital Territory - attention Specialist Temporary
Entry Centre.
402 Training and Research visa Research stream. Sponsorship applications are lodged and processed at the Hobart office in
Tasmania - attention Specialist Temporary Entry Centre. Visa applicants who are outside Australia must lodge their visa

402 Training and Research visa Occupational Trainee stream.Sponsorship, nomination and visa applications are lodged and
processed at theHobart office inTasmania- attention Specialist Temporary Entry Centre.
402 Training and Research visa Professional Development stream. Sponsorship and visa applications are lodged and processed
at theHobart office inTasmania- attention Specialist Temporary Entry Centre.
416 Special Program applications are lodged and processed at the Hobart office in Tasmania - attention Specialist Temporary
Entry Centre.

420 Temporary Work (Entertainment) visa. Sponsorship, nomination and visa applications are lodged and processed at the Sydney
office in New South Wales - attention Entertainment Visa Centre. You can use our email contact form if you need additional
support.
Paper applications for the Sponsored Family stream of the Visitor (subclass 600) visa must be lodged in Australia. These
applications will be processed at one of the Sponsored Family Visitor processing centres below.

Temporary Work (Skilled) (subclass 457) sponsorship, nomination and visa applications must be lodged online. These
applications will be processed at one of the Centres of Excellence in Australia.
If you are sponsored by an Australian employer, you must lodge your visa application at the same office in Australiawhere your
employer lodged papers to support your application. Please ask your employer where they lodged these papers.

Citizenship
Applications for Citizenship by Descent are processed by the Australian High Commission in London.
Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up)
Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra office in Australian Capital Territory.
