B series toroidal cores are developed by Nippon-Core

to satisfy the customers who are eager to reduce their
costs. The cores are wound of short silicon steel strips
in 1 to 3 metres long. It is the particular feature of B series
cores to have joints in the flux path.
Cores can be manufactured in material thickness
0.30mm, 0.27mm, 0.23mm in the following grades:

Due to its own characteristics, the following

points should be taken into consideration in
designs:
1. Stacking factor.
As there are joints in the core, the stacking
factor reduced to 0.90-0.91.
2. Cross-section area.
The cross-section area formula recommended :
S=K P
K= 0.55-0.75
2
S: core cross-section area ( cm )
P: rated power of transformer ( VA )
K: cross-section factor
3. Design protection margin
In order to avoid saturation and ensure the
reliability, the design protection margin
should be increased by 5-10%, comparing
to that of A series toroidal cores. This design
can minimize the cost of the transformer.

Nippon-Core manufactures high quality mini

toroidal cores which are wound by automatic
core winding machine and annealed in
continuous belt type furnaces. The advanced
manufacturing process warrantee the cores
have precise dimensions, excellent stability
and high permeability.
Cores can be manufactured in material
thickness 0.27mm, 0.23mm, 0.10mm, 0.08mm
and 0.05mm.
Bare cores (not varnished), impregnated cores,
epoxy coated cores produced according to
customers specifications.
Dimensions:
Minimum strip width: 3mm
Minimum inside diameter: 5mm

R-cores are wound in Nippon Steel Hi-B

oriented electrical steels and no-loadlosses are guaranteed.

Advantages
Compact dimension; high efficiency;
low magnetic leakage; reliable safety;
low humming etc.

Besides transformer cores, winding

bobbins and mounting bases for
transformer units can also be obtained
from Nippon-Core as a package.

Distributed gap core is similar in shape to a

C-core, however it has only one gap in one of
the legs. Unlike C-cores, each and ever y layer
of strips have only one cut, thus the core has
extremely low core losses.
Other advantages of distributed gap cores
comprise the reduction of assembly time and
savings in copper. Iron losses are less than
1.6 Watt/kg at an induction of 1.7 Tesla, which
means that the magnetic performances of
distributed gap core are similar to that of
Toroidal cores.
Nippon-Core manufactures distributed gap
cores according to customer specifications.
