State Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said on 26 June that there is
need to change the traditional ways of agriculture in the state in order to make
it a developed state.
Use of modern and advanced techniques has to be encouraged and the
farmers of the state need to adopt innovation with new thoughts, the minister
said.
Minister Agrawal felicitated 189 progressive farmers in the programme that
was organized by agriculture magazine Krishak Samriddhi with the
cooperation of state agriculture department. He also released souvenir.

In this programme, Vice Chancellors Dr SK Patil and Dr Umesh Mishra of Indira
Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) and Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu
Vishwavidyalaya respectively were presented Lifetime Achievement Awards.
From IGKV, 14 agriculture scientists were also felicitated.
Chhattisgarh State Agriculture and Seed Development Corporation Chairman
Shyam Bais, Chhattisgarh State Textbook Corporation Chairman Deoji Bhai
Patel and Director, Agriculture MS Kerketta also graced the occasion.

SEEDS DISTRIBUTED TO FARMERS

Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal had informed that the State


Government has set the target of distributing nearly 10 .61 lakh quintal seeds
to farmers in Kharif 2016, which is 3.42 lakh quintals more than the target of
previous year.
The State Agriculture Department officials had given a target of producing
10.36 lakh quintal certified seeds of various crops to the Chhattisgarh State
Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation in the current Kharif season,
officials informed.
During the ongoing Kharif season, nearly 7.45 lakh quintals of seeds of various
crops have been distributed to farmers in Chhattisgarh till last of June..

SEEDS DISTRIBUTED TO FARMERS

This includes 12,276 quintals of paddy seeds, 6,111 quintals of corn, 2035
quintals of Arhar, 22,000 quintals of soyabean and 2396 quintal seeds of other
crops.
Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal also informed that the seeds produced
in the current Kharif season will be distributed to farmers as per their demands
in the next Kharif season in 2017.

CM of the state said The State Government had launched several welfare
schemes to benefit the agriculturists. An amount of Rs 1,970 crore had been
set apart for the drought-hit farmers under the various developmental
programmes.
Chief Minister also National Crop Insurance Scheme under which Rs 216 crore
had been allocated to be distributed to 1.38 lakh farmers in the State.
He added that 86,000 quintal seeds will be distributed to 49,000 farmers.
The short-term loans of 45,000 farmers in the district had been converted into
long-term loans.
Agriculture minister Shri Brijmohan Agrawal was also present there and
addressed the huge farmers rally.
