Racial Diversity Now and Future

Racial Diversity Now and Future

2015

2060

Over half of the population

continues to be white, however
there is an increase in other
races seen.

Although most of the

population is white, it no longer
makes up half of the
population. The study
estimates that hispanics will be
the next biggest group and
there will be an increase in
diversity.

Now...

How Does This Affect

Us?

How does diversity affect us?

As more races show up in our environment, the

gene pool is increased. This allows for interracial
marriage and a mixed race.

Interracial Marriage

For many years, interracial marriage

was illegal in some states. It wasnt
until 1967 that interracial marriage
was made legal everywhere in the
United States! In 2010, 15.5% of the
newly married had an interracial
union, and these numbers keep
growing.

The Mixed Race

More couples choosing an interracial

marriage means that there will be a more
diverse offspring This lead National
Geographic to make a studying to see what
our future population would look like.
These are the results.

Effect of Mixed Race

The mixed race means that

our definitions of race will
soon be invalid. A very small
amount, if even any, will be
purely white, black, etc.

Mixed

Problems

After National Geographic released their projection

of the future population, some people believed
them to be alien-like, or to be ugly. The new
population will receive some discrimination, but
the change is inevitable.

My Opinion/Conclusion

I, personally, find this new mixed race to be amazing. They show

beautiful physical features. I also believe that this brings us a step
closer in true equality, where everyone can keep a little family history
but at the same time not have space or reason to discriminate
another culture. WIll it fully eliminate discrimination? No, of course
not, but it will bring many of us closer together.
We live in a very diverse country. As citizens, it is our job to learn
about and respect other peoples culture. We also need to teach our
kids to not discriminate others based on their race, ethnicity,
background, or culture. And then, maybe we can reach true pluralism.

There are

7,125,000,000
People in the World
with

5,000

Over
Languages spoken

And we can make the United States a safe and

loving place for all of us.
