Life SciencesLife Writing: PTSD as a Transdisciplinary Entity between

Biomedical Explanation and Lived Experience
This article is all about how life sciences and life writing correlate and help
with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The goal of the study is to show why
therapies like psychotherapy are effective in controlling PTSD to a certain degree
but are not so effective when it comes to restitutio ad integrum for those with
PTSD. Life writing is memories, life threatening experiences, and all the details that
one can account for in the form of a narrative. The types of life writing vary from
online videos, blogs, group meetings, and etc. Life writing has been very effective in
helping PTSD patients feels therapeutic and having a sense of connection with
others.
This article emphasizes the need for new approaches when trying to
understand the circumstances of life and also understanding the illness and
experience that comes with it. While the psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy help
reduce some of the symptoms of PTSD, many still believe that traditional medicine
is also needed to battle the illness. Medicinal herbs and acupuncture are only a
couple of the treatments recommended. Traditional Chinese Medicine has also been
a main focus because of its accessibility. The necessity for interdisciplinary methods
in humanity research has been highlighted throughout the article.

454 Life Sciences and the Genome Sequencing Center at Washington
University School of Medicine in St. Louis Announce Collaborative
Research Plan
The Genome Sequencing Center at Washington University Medical School
concentrates on the investigation of DNA arrangement, building the clone outline
contributing 25 percent of the completed sequence. 454 Life Sciences is a company
that specializes in conducting high-throughput nucleotide sequencing. Both
groups have decided to launch what they call a collaborative research plan to
sequence disease-causing pathogens and to sequence RNA to analyze gene activity
in tissue samples. The first goal of this project is to better understand the
pathogens in order to better treat, diagnose and prevents diseases and illnesses.
They also plan to sequence RNA to measure the expression profiles of genes in
mammalian cells and tissues.
Information on small hereditary contrasts between isolates of microbes,
infections and different pathogens can be vital to understanding changes in
destructiveness and different components imperative to the control and treatment
of diseases. They plan to use the instrument systems to create sequencing data.
Researchers and press release have to be cautious of the statements they make

due to the facts that things may change and research results could differ. Research
will be done on the 454 Life Sciences' Genome Sequencer 20 Systems at the
Genome Sequences Center. Researchers hope to understand the genotypes of
different diseases and to even help find patients who can benefit from certain
treatments.
