Week # of rotation: 4
Total hours for the week: 45 hours 15 minutes
Date: 2/08/2016
Total hours for the day: 9
Today I worked with Joyce, a food service supervisor. She walked me through
her daily job routine. Then, I helped prep fruit for the schools and daycares that Reid
caters. I also went with the driver on his route to deliver Meals on Wheels. I also
started my plate waste study for the patient trays.

Total hours for the day: 9.5
Today, I worked with Josh the delivery guy. He delivers meals to 9 day cares,
and 2 schools. I helped him deliver the coolers and Cambros (they keep the warm
food warm) to all different places. Then I went with him again for his second route
which delivers lunch. I had about a half hour back at the hospital to work on my
plate waste study before I went back out with Josh for his third route. When I came
back to the hospital I only had a little while to work on my projects for Rachel. I did
not enjoy today as I was in the freezing cold all day, lifting heavy containers of food
throughout the snow. I also have a million things that are very time consuming to do
for people at the hospital on top of the BSU assignments and I spent the majority of
my day in a delivery van.

Total hours for the day: 8.5
Today, I was supposed to work with the catering gal, Kinsley. She did not have
much going on and said that today wouldnt be an ideal day to help her because it
is not the busy seasoning for catering. I was very glad because I had all morning to
work on my projects for Rachel and other assignments. Duggan, the chef, and
Jenifer, an outpatient dietitian, put on a cooking show that is aired on local TV. I got
to attend and help with this show. Instead of coming together once a month to tape
these episodes, Jennifer and Duggan tape three episodes in one day to make it
easier. Today, they did the February, March, and April episodes. I got to watch in the
audience and help them clean up and set up for each new dish and episode.
Date: 2/11/2016
Total hours for the day: 8hrs 45 mins
This morning I came in at 5:30 am to work with the Wernle Cook. I mostly just
stood around and watched here since there was anything to help with or much for
me to do. I continued with my plate waste study for breakfast and lunch. I had a
meeting with the manager of the dietetics to talk about National Nutrition Month. I
am planning the event for Reid in March. I also worked on the patient menus and
comparing the nutrients to the current recommendations.
Date: 2/12/2016
Total hours for this day: 9.5
Today I worked on the patient meals. Some meals are missing a large
amount of daily potassium and fiber. I am working on adding things to the menu so

that the needs are met. I also continued on my plate waste study. I had a meeting
with Rachel about how I was doing throughout my internship. She said I am doing
well and was just checking in with me. Tonight I am going to Randolph Southern
High School to set up a table at their wellness night.
