Use curriculum, assessment and reporting knowledge to design learning
sequences and lesson plans.
Lesson focus
The focus of the engage stage is to pick the knowledge out of the
childrens brains, getting the students to be able to re think about what
they know about day and night and how it has a been portrayed to them.
It will involve the use of past knowledge of students, if no past knowledge
is seen students will be given probing questions.
Assessment focus
The assessment in this lesson will be looked upon as diagnostic as it will
be what the students already know and what they understand. Students
will be needed to talk about day and night and why it happens.

Getting students to fill in their first page in their work book / journals. The
first page will be a t page with heading on one side as day and the other
side as night. This will be used as a diagnostic assessment and will be
used as one at the end of the unit.

Questioning students again about the earth spin
Where does the sun go at night?
Where does the moon go?
Does any one know about the moon?
Does the moon glow?
Is the sun close?
30-45 mins
Students will be able to draw what happens to the sun and what
happened to the moon at night. Students can do this on the front of their
books or their second page from the t work.
45-55mins
Share time:
Students can share what they know about the night and some can share
about what they know about the day. Some may be able to share their
pictures of the moon or sun display.
