Course Introduction

This course explores the ways that organisations set their strategic objectives (strategy), organise themselves
to achieve those objectives (management) and secure the willing support of people who can effect mission
accomplishment (leadership), needs.
The second part of the course on Corporate Governance and is designed specifically to equip Secretaries and
Personal Assistants.
The course seek to answer the following questions: What exactly is corporate governance? Why is it so
important? Who is responsible for it in an organisation and what do they do? How does Ethics and Culture
(personal and organisational) affect Corporate Governance?
Designed specifically for the support staff, this course examines how corporate governance works in the
company environment, and the legal and regulatory framework which underpins what organisations do. It
looks in detail at some of the key governance responsibilities for company boards, and considers the
relationship between governance, corporate values and ethics.
Delegates will also be asked to explore the role of shareholders and other stakeholders. The course includes
the use of group working and a governance case study.
Delegates are expected to finish the course with an understanding of the key concepts and discussions in this
area and insight into how to apply them to their own organisations.

After successful completion of this one week learning programme the learners should be able to:
