Welcome to the Quantum Automation Tech Corner. Every month I will use this section to
give you helpful tips for the Automation Direct product line. This month I will start by pointing out
a few of my favorite instruction boxes for the Productivity 3000 Programming Suite. All three
reduce programming time as well as size. More details can be found in the Productivity Suite help
file.

Productivity 3000 Instruction Boxes

1. SCL – Linear Scale
The Linear Scale (SCL) instruction box is an easy and convenient way to scale any variable input
from one type of unit to another. Just fill in the box for input and output tags then specify the input
and output scales and you are done. No v-memory locations or math instructions required.

2. SCLN – Scale (Non Linear)
The Non Linear Scale instruction allows the user to quickly set up a custom scale for any variable
input. Like the Linear Scale box, you first enter the input and output tags. Then enter up to 16
input and output pairs. The PAC will interpolate between them to create your custom scale.

3. MATH – Math Editor

The Math Editor (MATH) allows one to simply type in a formula just like Microsoft Excel and
Word. Choose an output tagname and the PAC will do the rest. You can even use tags within the
formula for variables. This instruction box saves valuable program memory by combining
individual math boxes into one, easy to configure, element.
