Question 4
Read the article and answer the questions.
Every child is born different. Each child is gifted with his or her own special talents or
abilities. As such, many parents find it very challenging in bringing up their children. If an
average coach can develop gold medallist, so can parents! Why is it so important to know
about a childs intelligence? There are many reasons as to why we should be aware of this.
Firstly, there are various types of intelligence. Every normal child has varying degrees
of these different intelligences to make him or her unique. Next, you need to identify a childs
intelligences to develop him or her to the fullest potential. The child may be good in drawing,
painting, designing or in other disciplines. As our world becomes more advanced, the child
must be taught survival skills in order to adapt to changes. These will be easier if the child
has been taught to use his or her intelligence well.
Another reason is that the childs intelligence will make him or her independent. The
child will be able to accomplish tasks with little help from others. Therefore, parents play an
important role in the development of a childs intelligence.

Read the poem below carefully. Then, answer questions (a) (d).

Leisure
By William Henry Davies

What is this life if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beautys glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare
