In the role of Principal Engineer (Civil) you will manage the operational aspects of the delivery of individual projects from local road
infrastructure programs and provide specialist technical expertise to project activities through effective leadership to project
managers on design, construction, maintenance projects and operation of road networks.
Accountabilities include:

Manage and co-ordinate contract performance and construction practices by ensuring that efficient procedures are
implemented and best practice is achieved; (can be replaced with accountability from Suite to specialise RD);

Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation
and project delivery;

Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or
systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best
practice are achieved

Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes
involved with all phases of the project management model;

Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support
responsible decisions and courses of action for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects;

Supervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster
a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives;

Identify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties,
including identifying possible political and high risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional
manner.

This position reports to the Principal Engineer (Civil) - Team Leader [Pre-Construction].

Mandatory requirements:

A Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification which is accepted by Engineers Australia is a
requirement of this position

Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for permanent appointment to the
position.

Unregistered applicants are encouraged to apply for the position provided they are eligible for registration in accordance with
the Professional Engineers Act 2002.

If the preferred candidate is not a current RPEQ a six month temporary appointment to the position may be offered, with the
appointee to be directly supervised locally by a Transport and Main Roads employee with RPEQ membership.

The temporary employee will be required to provide evidence of an application for registration within two months of
commencement and have attained RPEQ status within six months of commencement. If these requirements are not met
temporary employment will cease.

Current holder of a C class drivers licence.

Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) recipients are not eligible for re-employment by a Queensland Government entity for a
period of three years from the date of termination in accordance with the VSP Deed. Applicants who have been paid an early
retirement, redundancy, retrenchment, severance benefit or VSP payment from a Queensland Government entity within the
