Course Description:
Math Lab 10: The goal of Math Lab 10 is to help students develop a more
sophisticated understanding of algebraic and geometric concepts necessary for
further study of mathematics and success on the ISTEP 10. Algebraic and Geometric
skills will be developed using a wide range of problem-solving situations. Emphasis
on mathematical relationships, connections and appropriate use of graphing
technology within the problem-solving process are essential parts of this course.
The prerequisite for this course is Algebra I .
The following standards will be taught throughout the year.
Number Sense, Expression, and Computation
Geometry and Measurement
Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability
Linear Equations, Inequalities, and Functions
Systems of Equations and Inequalities
Quadratic and Exponential Equations and Functions
Mathematical Process
A full description of each standard may be found at www.doe.in.gov
Goals!!!
Further develop an in-depth understanding in Algebra and Geometry
Successfully pass the ISTEP 10 to fulfill graduation requirements.
Be prepared for proceeding mathematics courses including Algebra II/PreCalculus/ETC.
Class Supplies: Each student will need to bring and be prepared with the following
supplies every day.
Writing utensil- preferably a pencil
Think Pad-make sure its battery is charged
Folder/Binder-to keep worksheets, notes, and other documents
Paper

Attendance Policy:
Daily attendance is important for mathematics class. If a student is truant,
no work can be made up and all work will be given a zero. A student is allowed one
day to make-up work for every day the student was absent. If he/she misses only

the Review Day, the student will be expected to take the test with the rest of the
class. Work not made up when due will receive a zero.

Tardies:
Each student is expected to be inside the classroom before the tardy bell
stops ringing. If you arrive after the tardy bell, without a pass, you will be given a
tardy. I will strictly enforce all tardy and attendance policies as they appear in your
student handbook.
Restroom Passes:
Each student is expected to utilize the passing period between each class to
address bathroom issues. If it is an emergency, please raise your hand and
appropriate accommodations will be made.
Grading Policy:
Letter grades will be based on the following criteria
Distribution
70% -Test/Quiz
30% Assignments/Classwork
60-69%

Grade
A 90-100% B 80-89%
C 70-79% D
F Less than 60

Policy on Late Work:

Assignments that are late, will receive a zero score and cannot be made up.
Retake Policy:
Students can retake exams to receive a better score. Before retaking an
exam, the student must speak with the teacher, complete additional
assignments, and show proof of extended study.
