GERKO CAMP (GROUP 2) PPISMP TESL (SK) 2

GROUP REFLECTION
The Recreational Sports Camp that was held on the 22 nd of September 2011
was officially the first camp that we had attended since we entered Batu Lintang
Teachers Training College. The camp was held for eight hours and all of the
PPISMP TESLians were involved.
During the camp we learnt about the importance of teamwork. The various
games organised were quite challenging and need a lot of cooperation and
teamwork among us. We were very lucky because all of the group members were
very friendly and easy going. Therefore, we did not face any problems while
interacting and playing those activities with them. One of the activities that acquires
the full cooperation of the group members is when we were asked to cook our lunch
together. Thus, to speed up, we divided the works equally among ourselves. Some
of us were pitching up the tents, some prepared the fire for cook while some of us
were preparing the foods and ingredients that were used for cooking. Both of us
were in charged to prepare the ingredients. At the same time, we also helped our
other group members to pitch up the tents because we found that it was quite difficult
to handle those tents. Therefore, indirectly we benefited ourselves on pitching up the
tents. As a result, we were able to go through all of the various challenges that we
faced during the camp with unity.
We would also like to show our gratitude towards the committee members for
managing a strategic place for us to camp. There are trees all around and these
makes a good shelter for us. The location was also a stone throw form the Punjabis
Fort. This was the first time we saw the Punjabis Fort whereby it is one of the
historical building in our campus. Before this, we had no chance to explore the whole
campus. Thanks to this camp, we were able to do. For example during last station of

our game, we were asked to go to the mini museum. To be honest, before this we
did not know the location of our mini museum. Hopefully, we will have a chance to
explore the wondrous museum.
Continuance is power. This Japanese proverb had actually been the most
powerful tool that helped us to break every negative factor that restrained us from
persevering. Not only did we master a few skills during this camp, we were also
capable of managing our time much more systematically. In the end, we found that
we were able to work well collaboratively and the ties between us and the group
members were strengthened with the lignin of understanding and friendship.
