History:
KoraviisanameofClanlivinginKarnataka,Maharashtra&Deccanregion.TheirmothertongueisKannada,Marathi,Telugu,Tamil&
evenHindi.TheyarenowspreadalloverIndia.SomelegendssaythattheyaredescendedfromSuryavanshi&somefromChandravanshi.
TheyarepresentlyLingayats&othercastes.
AftertheSuryavanshiKingdomdeclined,thesurvivingpeoplefromthisdynastymigratedtovariousplaces.
Vijayasurtha(Prasanajit)&hisfamilymigratedtoSaurashtra(presentdayinGujarat).Hebecamearichtrader.He
earnedabighouse&manyworkers,bodyguards&horses.Hewouldsailtovariouscitiesandsellhisproducts.
Onedayhesailedfarawayandduetotheheavywaveshereachedanunknownisland.
Theislandwasbig,coveredwithforest&barrenland.Hehadanideaandwiththehelpofhisworkershebuilta
fortressaroundtheislandanddivideditinto2differentcities.Hebuiltmanyhouses&roads.Heconvertedthe
islandintobeautifulislands.HesettledinthatislandwithhisfamilyandnameditasGajapuri(becauseoflarge
numberofelephants).HewaschosenasthekingofGajapuriandpeoplestartedtoliveinthatisland.
Prasanajitwassuccededbyhisandsonandheappointedhissecondson,Surathiasthekingafterwhichhepassedaway.Theeldestson,
Marasjitbecameannoyedofhimashisfatherdidn'tchoosehimandchosehisyoungerbrother.Surathiconqueredmanynearbyislandslike
Sansadvipa,Shatadvipa,ShridvipaandNamadvipa.Marasjitmadeaplanhecalledthechiefofnavyandbribedhimtosayalie.Thechief
ofnavyliedSurathithatthekingdomofPrajnethiisgoingtoattackGajapuri.
Surathiandsomeofthesoldierswenttotheseatomakepeace,butonthewaySurathiwaskilledbyhisown
Minister.EveryoneinthearmysupportedMarasjit.SoSurathi'swifewithhersmallchildandherrelationssailed
backtoIndia.TheysettledinVadhachira.Manycenturiespassedandmedievalperiodstarted.Manyforeign
invadersstartedtoattackIndia.Theinvadersmademanykingdoms.Therewereforeignpeople,sotheytorturedthe
peopleandimposedJaziyataxonthem.Suryavanshipeoplewerenowawareoftheconditionspassing.Sotheyleft
Bhaironpur(AncientVadhachira)andenteredtheVijayanagarEmpireofthesouth.Theybecamemerchantsand
armyofficersintheVijayanagarEmpire.TheycametobeknownasRavivanshi(RavimeansSuninKannada
language).TheyadoptedthecultureofKarnataka.

Thepeoplemigratedtovariousplaceswiththeirleaders.
ManyofthemfromthisfamilywerefriendsofBritishandsomeenemies.Therewere
supporters&enemiesinthisfamily.HucchappaImigratedtoHariyalainBellarydistrict
withhisfamily.Hehadason,LokappaIwhogrew&becamearichmerchant.Theyleft
Hariyala&settledinHubballi(Hubli).
