Quality Assurance
QA Engineer Interview Questions and Answers
Question: Can you describe the various responsibilities and roles of a quality engineer?
Answer: Discuss here not only quality control, QA tests, and monitoring of various kinds (materials,
products, electrical systems), but also other related tasks that a QA engineer might be responsible
for: improvement processes, quality-oriented staff training, and quality-related customer services.
Question: Describe your previous interactions with customers. How do you handle
customer complaints?
Answer: Quality engineers can serve as the link between customers and suppliers. When a
customer complains about product quality, the engineer must then solve the problem between the
customer, the company, and its affiliates, including material and parts suppliers. Briefly describe
some interesting problems that you have successfully tackled.
Question: Did you ever undertake staff training and instruction on Quality Assurance?
Answer: Training and instruction of staff regarding quality issues is sometimes necessary as part of
quality control. If you have any experience in this field, describe the specific reason and subject of
training. Underscore, without arrogance, your accomplishments with the group.
Question: What else, besides quality monitoring, can you suggest to ensure quality of
materials and products?
Answer: A basic procedure in quality engineering is Continuous Improvement. Describe
involvement, method of data collection from observation and monitoring of production processes.
Problem-solving skills are the key to success here and you will do well to mention your unique
abilities in this area: Problems you solved, corrections you facilitated and improvements you
initiated.
Question: How effective would you say your team-playing skills are?
Answer: Quality Engineers interact with employees at all levels, from minor suppliers to organization
management.
Describe a specific assignment where you had to use your communication skills, participate in a
group endeavor or manage/lead a team. Discuss your routine communication with all levels of
management, quality managers and inspectors, development engineering divisions, operations and
QA testing staff.
ANS...Modulus of elasticity is related to the flexibility of the material. The value of modulus of
elasticity is pretty important in case of deflection of different materials used in building construction.
Q.3 What is the basic difference in absorption, adsorption, and sorption?
ANS...Absorption refers to the phenomenon where an atom, molecule or ions enter any bulk phase
like gas, solid or liquid. Absorption refers to the phenomenon where energy of photon is transferred
to other entity.
Adsorption is similar to absorption. It refers to the surface rather than a volume. Adsorption takes
place when the gas or liquid solute accumulates on the surface of solid. A substance diffuses in
liquid or solid to form a solution.
Q.4 How are the freeway bridges built?
ANS..The traffic that is likely to go over the bridge at a time is estimated and the cement, rocked with
rubber stanchions is placed over the freeway to build a bridge. Off-ramp from freeway to the bridge
and on-ramp from the bridge to the freeway are constructed. Cement slabs are used to build a
platform.
Q.5 A flat slab is capable to withstand ?
Ans..concentrated loads.
Q.6 State the applications of modulus of elasticity?
ANS...Modulus of elasticity is related to the flexibility of the material. The value of modulus of
elasticity is pretty important in case of deflection of different materials used in building construction.
Q.7 Difference between routine maintenance and major maintenance for school facilities?
Ans..Routine maintenance is handling the minor repairs of the school campus. Major maintenance
can be total reconstruction or renovation of the school.
Q.8 Cantilever retaining walls can safely be used for a height not more than?
Ans..6 m
Q.9 An R.C.C. column is treated as long if its slenderness ratio is greater than?
Ans..50
Q.10 The minimum number of main steel bars provided in R.C.C.?
Ans. .rectangular columns is 4
circular columns is 6
octagonal columns is 8
2 Weight Batching
(B) Mixing.....For making a good mixing the materials should be mixed first in dry condition and then
in wet condition.
(C) Transportation and Placing of concrete...After mixing the concrete the next step is to place it to
its final location as soon as possible. Mixing should be done nearby place to reduce transportation.
(D) Compaction of Concrete....When concrete is placed it may have some air bubbles entrapped in
it. It may be a case of reduction of strength by 30%. Hence compaction is done to reduce or
eleminate this problem.
Q.3 What are the various methods of concrete curing?
Ans. The process of Maintaining the moisture and temperature in the fresh wall is known as
cunning. It is performed for a small duration of time to allow the hardening of concrete.
Steps are given below:1 Spray of water on walls.
2 Wet covering of surface.
3 Pounding
4 Steam curing
5 Application of curing compounds.
Ans.
a. strength
b. work ability
c. stability of structure
Q. 12 Dado is usually provided in?
Ans..bath rooms
Q.13 The wall shown in the below figure has failed. The cause of failure or the error made in
the design of the failded wall is ?
Ans.. overturning
Q. 14 A flat slab is capable to withstand ?
Ans..concentrated loads.
Q.15 why we are using crank length in rcc slab reinforcement?
Ans. Crank lengths are used because the moments at the edge strips are negative while that at mid
span are positive so reinforcement are alternatively provided at the top and bottom respectively.. so
just to have connection between the reinforcement and for the slab to behave as a single unit by
providing continuous bars, cranking is done in slabs.
