Greeting

Daily Lesson Plan

Students will enter the classroom and put away their snacks and folders in their mailboxes. Afterwards, they will be invited to spend time looking at and reading
books in the book area or to sign in at the table.
After counting from 1 10, we will sing the Good Morning Song and discuss who is going to be the schedule mover, the line leader, and the door holder. Then we
will look at the messages on the message board. Students will be invited to write and state the number poems for the numbers 7-9 before each message is
introduced.
Messages:
1. Picture of clouds, the sun, flowers, and grass will be on the board, a sentence will be written (It is Spring Time!), we will discuss how it is no longer
winter that it is now spring, will state how its getting warmer outside, how flowers will start blooming, and how the leaves will start growing back on
the trees, also will discuss how it can rain a lot during the spring (April showers bring May flowers.)
2. Rest Time schedule sign will be on the board with the words new rest time spots written, we will discuss how some will be getting new spots for rest
time, will state how their belongings will be set out when getting back from being outside, so they will be able to find their new spots
3. A picture of a girl on the board with a question written above (How many students are at school today?), students will state that we had to count to find
out how many there are, after counting student will come up and write number down

Transition: Move like a mouse to small group tables
Content: Students will be provided with writing/drawing materials and a sheet of paper with a box for drawing and lines for writing. They have the opportunity to
write and draw about anything they want. Students will be asked to close their eyes and to think about what they would like to draw and write about. They will be
encouraged to think about something they did over the weekend, something that they might do, something they might like, to use their imagination to make up a
story, etc. Students will take turns sharing what they created with one another.
Early: Students will explore their writing materials. They will do this by writing or drawing. They may write, draw pictures, or make scribbles.
Middle: Students will ask adults to write or label something for them. They may write letter-like forms, write letters, or write letters in groups.

Planning

Later: Students will combine letters to make words. They may write made-up words, invent their own spelling, or engage in conventional spelling.

The area card chart will be spread out across the table and a container with dry erase markers will be placed in front of the students. Students will be asked to write
their first and/or last initial underneath the picture of each area they would like to go to. After writing their initials they will name the area, state what they plan on
doing there, and state who they would like to play with.
Teachers will be there as facilitators, guides, and role models during work time. They will help students to extend their knowledge and level of thinking by
nudging them when appropriate. Teachers will observe students, take notes, and engage in activities with them. Teachers will offer help and support when needed.
Teachers will incorporate new knowledge that they learned from their professional development classes and incorporate them into the classroom during this time.
Students will hear the chimes for the first time. They will know that there is 5 more minutes left to play. When they hear the chimes the second time, they will
start to sing the Clean-Up Song.

The area card chart from the morning will be laid back down across the table. Each student will take a turn looking for their initials that they wrote underneath the
areas they stated that they were going to go. Each child and the teacher will look at each area with an initial underneath and discuss if that child went to that area,
and if so what he/she did there, and who he/she played with while there. If the child did not go to the area he/she might explain why and sate the areas that they
ended up going to instead.

After putting away their rest time belongings, students will go to the planning chart that is on the door. Each student will find his/her letter link and choose the
areas in which he/she wants to play at. Each student will find those specific area cards and place them behind his/her letter link.

Students will be provided with a pair of binoculars. They will each be expected to stand on up and look through the binoculars like an explorer looking for the
areas where they played at. They may hold the binoculars whichever way they want depending upon if they want the areas to appear bigger or smaller. Each will
take turns using the binoculars. The person who has the binoculars on will stand on up and after locating the areas, will name the areas that he/she played at, state
something specific that he/she did in each of the areas, and name the other students that he/she played with.

Other

Content: Students will be asked if they know the song The Hokey Pokey. We will see if any students may know the song. If any students dont know the song we
will explain how its a song that involves shaking different body parts. Students will be asked to stand on up in a circle and will be introduced to the song if they
dont know it. We will sing the song 6 different times, putting different body parts inside the circle. Each student will put his/her right arm, left arm, right foot,
left foot, head, and whole self inside the circle.
Outside will point out changes within the environment due to weather, provide them with materials (balls, buckets, shovels, etc.), go along with and play the
games they come up with
Inside Students will go to the gym in the afternoon, items will be set out for them to play with (basketballs, soccer balls, foam balls, footballs, hula hoops, jump
ropes, and foam hockey sticks)
Snack will have meaningful conversations, try to model decontextualized text, go along with and play the games they come up with, bring over books to read,
sing songs or say rhymes/poems together
