Yes sexual education should be in school

I'm a high school student that's doing a paper on sexual education in schools and I think it
should be because most parents don't teach there kids about sexual education I was one of
the lucky ones my mom and my school taught me but telling a kid to not do something is
gonna wanna make them do it more

No One Is Talking About It

Sex education should definitely be taught in schools. There are parents who do not
explain to their children what sex is, about their body, and some instead treat sex as taboo
or teach that their children do not need to worry about sex until they have it. Being young
and curious, kids will turn to the Internet. What they find could not only be untruthful,
but dirty. The Internet is a great place to find information, yes, but who is to know the
difference between what is right and what is wrong when on the Internet? There are kids
of think that pornography is what sex is and how it should be. The point of sex education
in schools should be to teach kids about sex ranging from the act itself and how to stay
safe, to STDs and things like birth control and condoms, to hormones and growing
bodies, forming good relationships be it sexual and/or romantic, to everything in
between. Sex education does not mean that "since I know, I'll have sex" type of thing.
Understanding what sex is and how to safely go about it will not only make us more
educated with the topic, but allow us to safely make decisions.

Sexual education is good.

Even beyond teaching students how to have safe sex, students need to be taught how to
form and maintain healthy relationships, which should be in place before having sex.
Countries, like Holland, have a comprehensive sexual education program that not only
covers STD's, safe sex and contraceptives, it also teaches youngsters how to form
boundaries, what gender roles are, what stereotypes exist, how to be safe in a relationship
and much more. They start teaching kids in kindergarten(with age appropriate material of
course) so that they can build onto it year after year, until about middle school when they
can start adding in sex ed. Parents aren't all knowing and can't provide a full education
unless they are a doctor. Also, kids aren't comfortable talking to their teacher or parents
because of the attitude in this country towards sex. If kids were taught that sex isn't a
horrible taboo thing, then they would be willing to talk to adults. The only way to do that
is for teachers and parents to be actively teaching kids.

Average age Americans lose virginity.

The average age Americans lose their virginity is 17. 66% of American high school
students have had sex by the senior year. Therefore, if we teach students about sex
education while they are in middle school as well as high school, they will be aware of
the responsibility that comes with having sex. As well as the consequences of having
unprotected sex. These students need to be aware of all of this.

Yes I think sex should be taught in school

The reason why I say that is because that's where the sex strive began. So many teens are
getting pregnant because the don't have anyone to talk to about it. So if they not getting
they sexual talk at home they could get it from school as long as used appropriately and
educational.

Sex must be taught in SCHOOL

We are living full of lies right now. It should be in a reality form. Just to be aware to
everybody that we need to know or the young generation nowadays must aware about the
word SEX and its importance. The Do's and Don'ts. So we must be aware of it.

Because it is important
I wasn't taught about puberty properly until i was 12, even then we were just labeling
genitalia, and i wasn't taught about sexuality and i believe it is important that today's
youth are to be informed about this so they know what they feel and that they are not
alone

Yes sex education should be taught in schools

Sex ed. Is very important because the next generation will need to know about safe sex
and doing everything right. The last thing we want are more 15 yearbold girls pregnant.
As we grow up we tend to explore and experiment with sex and sexual activites.
Teaching sex ed. Is important because we need to know the pro and cons about sex and
all the sexual activites there are

Sex education Shouldn't be taught

Do you believe that a student in the 5th grade has the ability to understand the meaning of
the word sex and also the many types of definition it has? No they don't know and
shouldn't know either I believe in 2014 kids in fifth grade should be taught about the
religious way or how morally all people should live by and wait until marriage. When
you teach a kid a topic about this believe or not his/her mind will start to think that the
teachers are wanting them to go out there and have sex with someone. But when you
leave that topic to the parents they will be taught the way the parent believes their child
should be taught about sex and i believe as any parent out there would not like any school
to teach them how to put a condom on, when to take birth control and most of all the
different positions and ways a man and a women can have sex. Resource say: why should
school teach sex when they should be teaching abstinence because teaching about sex in
other words for them is to do it and we should teach them to be against sex until
marriage.

How is it the governments place to teach kids about

this?
Parents should be the ones to talk to their children about this. School should be a place of
learning and focusing on your future, not on how to put on a condom! Teaching the kids
about sex and practicing safe sex is just feeding them the idea that if you use
contraception there is no consequences for your actions!

Academics vs. Culture

Schools should teach anatomy, but not how to handle the anatomy. That is the business of
home and family. As there is great disparity in how many ethnic groups, cultures,
religions, etc... Handle sex education, it is a topic best left for parents to handle. Also, a
child's maturity level and ability to handle the topic(s) needs to be judged by a parent
who knows that child better than a teacher.

To a point
I believe schools should teach about the human anatomy and sex, but not at all what is
going on, handing out condoms and birth control. That's the parent's job and it should
stay that way. People who think that this is normal and okay are wrong, because children
should not be subjected to this and if a parent feels uncomfortable with their child
learning about this at such an early age, then they should not be forced to participate.

Parents should maybe be parents

Schools should be for academics. Parents should be teaching their own kids about life
lessons, sex ed, respect, and common sense. It's parents responsibility to make sure their
kids grow up with a good character, and it's not right for you to think society should do
everything so you can just sit and let life pass you bye, complaining when things don't
work out.

Most schools teach abstinence only!

Look, I get your stances that we need to teach safe sex but at a lot of schools they just tell
the student what sex is and what it's affects are . In my opinion without giving examples
of how they can protect them from life threatening STD or life altering pregnancy is a
much better use of time. Frankly, I would go so far as to claim that teaching kids what sex
is but not how to protect yourself is making a larger number of kids try sex unsafely
despite the consequences.

These subjects are parents responsibility

Every child develops at a different rate and 5th grade is not the time to hear this from
some untrained person at school. Children are most influenced by a parent! The schools
in St. Pete Florida don't even now who in the school is responsible for teaching the
subject. Ejaculation, wet dreams, sexual intercourse are two much for most 10 year-olds
and discussing this in front of both sexes at one time is worse. Since when are my right
discounted concerning my child. Opting out does nothing because they have 150 kids all
laughing about it at lunch!
