BINDER SET UP
It is REQUIRED to keep a 3 ring binder for this class. The binder must be broken up into sections.

Section 1: Warm-ups
Section 2: Notes
Section 3: Graded Work

Warm-Ups
A warm-up question will be given every day during the first 5-10 minutes of class. Students are
responsible for writing down the date, question and answer to the question.

Class Notes
All notes should be kept in the notes section of the binder. Students are responsible for writing the date,
topic, vocabulary, and all practice problems given on the board. If a student is absent, they are responsible for
borrowing the notes from a student in the classroom to copy.

Homework
Paper homework will normally be assigned on Monday and will be due Friday. In addition, there will
be an online assignment due biweekly. All students will be responsible for completing the online homework.
All homework assignments are recorded on the homework board for students to view daily. There is no excuse
for late homework. Each day that the assignment is late one letter grade will be deducted from the score. If the
student is absent on Monday, they are responsible for retrieving their homework from the absent work bin.

In-class Assignments
All assignments and projects that are completed in class will be kept in the binders. All in-class
assignments are to be completed within the time given. If students are not able to complete the assignments
during class, they may ask to complete the assignment during homeroom. All work that will be collected should
be turned into the turn-in bin.

WEEKLY QUIZZES
There will be a quiz every Friday. Students should use their notes from that week to study.

MODULE TESTS
After the end of every module there will be a test. These tests are worth more than the weekly quizzes.
Students should use their notes and graded assignments to help them review for the test.

Make-Up Policy/Late Work

1. Late assignments will receive a letter grade off for each day past due unless receiving
assistance during homeroom from Ms. Ringer.
2. It is the responsibility of the student to find out what was missed in class when absent. The
student must make up all missed work unless otherwise told. Assignments that cant be
reproduced will be marked as EXCUSED in the gradebook.
3. DO NOT ASK FOR MISSED WORK DURING CLASS! Ask during homeroom AFTER
checking the absent work bin.
4. Make-up work is due 5 days after returning from an absence. Please note that the sooner the student
completes the work, the less behind he or she will be.
5. Make-up assignments can be picked up from the absent work bin in the beginning of class or
during homeroom.
6. Make-up assignments shall be completed at home and not during class time.

***

Each day students will be required to have a pencil, binder, any

assignments that are due and a positive attitude!!!***

How to Help Your Child

Succed in Math

Discuss with your child the ways

you use math in your everyday
life. Allow him/her to engage in
math such as calculating the tip
when you go to restaurants.

Make sure that

your child is
completing
his/her math
homework
EVERY night.

Ask your child

what they are
learning about
in math class.

Have a positive
attitude about
math. NEVER
tell your child
that you hate
math or that
you are bad at
math.

Do logic
puzzles with
your child and
allow them to
teach you how
to do their
homework .
