OTHER SERVICES

Parents requesting Drug Testing for their


child: Drug testing is available for any
parent who requests it for their son or
daughter. The drug test will be administered
by appointment only. In order to report the
test results to the parent, the son/daughter
must sign a consent/release of information
form to the parent. The cost for this drug test
is $40.00, which is expected to be paid at
the time of the service.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All client records are protected under the


Federal regulations Governing Confidentiality
of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records,
42 CFR part 2, and cannot be disclosed
without a clients written consent unless
otherwise provided for in the regulations.
At the time of the initial assessment, the
adolescent will be asked to sign consents
for parents, the referral services (i.e., school
principal, SAP contact person, or SAP
liaison), and any other appropriate agency or
contact person.

them learn how to overcome drug and alcohol
issues. Parental involvement is beneficial in
working with the adolescents needs. We stress
that parents and/or guardians attend the first
session, so they can also understand how our
agency works and what services we provide.

SPHS Behavioral Health offers services


specifically targeted to adolescents. If you
feel that your adolescent has experimented
or is using drugs and alcohol, our services
are designed to make the appropriate
recommendations which would be most
conducive to your childs needs. The
following chart is a guide to the referral and
assessment process for services.

CALL FOR SERVICE
This is the initial contact that the school
representative and/ or parent makes in the
scheduling the appointment for evaluation.
With the Call for Service, general
information is obtained about the adolescent.

ASSESSMENT & DRUG SCREENING


Once an appointment is made, the student
receives a drug and alcohol assessment
which is conducted one-on-one between
the client and the assessor. A specimen for
drug testing is collected at this time. Also,
we would like for the parents to attend
this initial assessment so that they can be
informed about our services and possible
involvement with their son/ daughter. There
is no fee for the assessment.
Following the assessment upon
receipt of the drug test results (5 to 10
days), a recommendation is made to
the appropriate referral source. The
student will also be notified in writing
of these recommendations. Possible
recommendations may include any of the
following:

RECOMMENDED
UNDERAGE DRINKING SERVICES
This psycho-educational service is designed
to assist clients in examining their choices
and decisions regarding substance usage.
There is a $60.00 total fee for this service.

OUTPATIENT DRUG & ALCOHOL


TREATMENT
Some clients will need more intensive
services, at which time a referral will be
made to an outpatient treatment program
for adolescent and/ or family counseling.
Outpatient treatment focuses on both the
adolescents and familys needs. Group and
individual counseling services are available.
Private health insurance and other funding
sources will be explored to cover the costs of
this service.
INPATIENT TREATMENT WITH
SUBSEQUENT OUTPATIENT
TREATMENT
If an adolescent has a significant substance
usage history, a referral may be made to an
inpatient substance program specializing in
adolescents. After their stay at the inpatient
program, follow-up services through a
local outpatient treatment provider is
recommended, to support the client-and their
family through the recovery process. Private
health insurance and other funding sources
will be explored to cover the costs of this
service.
