Required Materials

Course Description
The seventh grade mathematics curriculum is organized
into reporting categories: 1 Probability and Numerical, 2
Computations and Algebraic Relationships, 3 Geometry and
Measurement, and 4 Data Analysis and Personal Financial
Literacy.
As a 6th grade student, you will be using a consumable
textbook that provides lessons that are rigorous,
challenging, and sequential.
As your teacher I will prepare students to be more college
ready, and prompt them to think more creatively and
independently. Students will be required to participate in
class discussions daily, make their own notes about the
concepts, and demonstrate learning through multiple means
of evaluations. By the end of the school year students will
be expected to able to:
Represent and use rational numbers in a variety of
forms
Determine experimental and theoretical probabilities
related to simple and compound events using data and
sample space
Represent and solve problems involving proportional
relationships
Explore and represent data in a variety of forms. Use
multiple representations to communicate their
mathematical understanding.
Develop an economic way of thinking and problem
solving useful in one's life as a knowledgeable
consumer and investor.
Solve and represent geometric problems, one-variable
equations, and inequalities.

Student Calendars
Students are given a student planner at the beginning of the
school year that they will use to write down homework
assignments each day. We encourage parents to check
their childs planner daily.
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance at school is extremely important! BISD
attendance policy is enforced at all times. The student is
responsible to acquire a re-entry on the day of his/her return
from an absence.
Make-Up Work Policy
Any missed work because of an absence will have one day
per absence to be made up. It is your responsibility, as a
student, to ask for missed assignments the day you return
to school. If the student fails to collect missed work, a ZERO
will be recorded for that grade. For extended absences,
parents can call the office and arrange to pick up missed
work.
Tardiness
Tardiness WILL NOT be tolerated. Students are expected
to be in their assigned seats and ready to begin instruction
before the tardy bell rings.
Daily Assignments
Students will have the opportunity to complete daily
assignments during class time. Students, who do not
complete assignments during class time, may complete
assignments for homework. However, assignments must
be submitted by the next class day. All assignments are
expected to be done neatly in pencil, complete, be turned
in on time, and show outstanding effort.
Daily Assignment Grading Policy
1 day late 10 points deducted
2-3 days late 20 points deducted
4-5 days late 30 points deducted
6 or more days late grade can be no higher than a 50
Dress Code
Students are expected to follow campus and BISD dress
code at all times. Standardized uniform dress code will be
implemented at all times.

Grading
BISD grading policy will be implemented at all times.
Students grades will be calculated based on daily work
averages and test averages. Progress reports will be
sent the third week of each six-week period. A
minimum of 5 daily grades and 3 test grades will be
averaged for report card grades
Cheating
Cheating is interpreted as a procedure which
involves the unauthorized giving or receiving
help, offering or seeking aid, or the use of
material prepared in advance for use on an
assessment.
The penalty is a 0 on that work, and a failure
for the semester [which will be recorded as a
zero (0) in the teacher's grade book] if cheating
occurs a second time during the same semester.
If student is caught cheating on while taking an
exam, retesting will not be allowed in this
situation.
Retesting
Retesting will take place upon student failure on a major
assessment (test, project, writing assignment, etc.)
administered during a six weeks grading period. Six
Weeks Tests and Semester Exams do not qualify for
retesting.
Consequences
First offense- Student/Teacher Discussion
Second offense Phone Conference
Third offense Formal Conference
Fourth offense Counselor/ Special Ed. Referral
Fifth offense 2nd Formal Conference
Sixth offense- Discipline Office Referral
Repeated referrals will lead to OSS and/or BAC
Electronic Devices
Cell phones, cameras, iPods, and all other personal
electronic devices are not to be visible or active during
school time. If the students possess any of these items
they MUST stay in their backpack and OFF during
school. Electronic devices in use during the day will be
confiscated and turned into the office.
First Six Weeks
Throughout the first six weeks students will begin to
build on their foundations of number representation and
computations of Rational Numbers. The student will
label types of numbers, represent and solve operation
on Rational numbers
