:
Comprehend the learning objective of this module first then try to catch the
concept described in the learning activity. To know your understanding of the
material, you can do some tasks in the students worksheet. If you have
accomplished all the tasks, you are ready to have a test then.

:
By the end of this activity, it is expected that the students:
a. are able to rearrange the jumbled paragraph into a good a story.
b. are able to write a narrative text.
6. Learning Activity
:
Hello, students. How are you today? Are you okay? I hope so. Its nice to see
you again in English class. Now, we have a writing class. Its time to write a
narrative text. Im sure that you still remember the generic structure of
narrative text. It consists of orientation, complication, resolution, and
reorientation (optional). Do you still remember what orientation,
complication, resolution, and orientation is?
Well, students. Before writing a narrative text, you should consider the
structure of it. You may review some examples of narrative text if you still do
not understand it.
Ok, students. First, please try to rearrange the jumbled paragraphs. Then
please try to write some paragraphs of narrative text. (See the students
worksheet)

The crow wanted to be the queen. So, to prove that she could sing, she opened her
beak and made a loud Caw! Of course, when she opened her beak, the piece of
cheese fell to the ground.

The fox happily snatched up the cheese and laughed. He said, My deer crow, your
voice is fine but your opinion is not. You shouldnt believe everything you hear!
Thanks for the cheese!
Just then a dark brown fox passed by. He was very hungry. Then he saw the food
in the crows beak. His mouth watered, so he thought of a clever plan to get the
cheese
The fox looked up the crow, he said, I have always admired your beauty, with
your soft, shiny feathers and nice beak. If your voice is as fine as your looks, you
could be the queen of the birds!
One bright Sunday morning, an ugly black crow perched on the branch of a tree.
She had just stolen a tasty piece of cheese and was about to enjoy it.

b. Read the first part of the story then continue the story with the sentences
in the box below.
Once upon a time, on the coast of East Java, there lived a variety of sea
animals. They lived in peace. Only an octopus called Cumi couldnt get along
with other sea creatures. Cumi was so cruel.
One day Cumi went to the house of a fish named Suro. He told Suro that
one of the crocodiles, Boyo, had a plan to harm Suro. Suro and Boyo were
best friends. Thats why, Suro didnt believe Cumi.

a. In the place where they once fought was built a city called Suroboyo.
Suroboyo, therefore, means brave in danger.
b. Then, Cumi went to Boyos house and said that Suro had a plan to harm
him. This time Cumis lies were so convincing that Boyo believed
Cumi.
c. Suro was still calm and didnt fight back. But knowing that Boyo would
never stop attacking him., Suro became brave and strong. He fought
Boyo bravely until the sea turned red with their blood.
d. Boyo was very angry. He got upset and swam in a hurry to Suros
house. He attacked Suro and wounded him.

Roro Jonggrang

A long time ago in Prambanan palace lived a king named Baka with his
beautiful daughter Roro Jonggrang. Many rulers wanted to marry Roro
Jonggrang, so they completed for her. When Bandung Bondowoso conquered
Prambanan, he killed King Baka in a battle.
Bandung Bondowoso let Roro Jonggrang live, but she was supposed to marry
Bandung. She refused, making Bandung humiliated and offended. Roro
Jonggrang struggled to escape, but it wa in vain. Finally, Roro Jonggrang
agreed to marry Bandung, but on one condition. Bandung had to present a big
wonderful place with one thousand sculptures in it. and he had to finish it
before the sun rose. He agreed.
Bandung immediately called his invisible friends for help. They did what
their master ordered. Knowing it, Roro was worried. It appeared they would
finish the work before morning, and would not stop. What can I do? Roro
thought in a panic. Suddenly she had an idea. She awoke her maids and
nannies, and asked them to do their daily routines as if morning had come.
They also made shadow as if there was a sun in the sky.
Bandung was surprised. The sky was red, the roosters crowed, and the people
pounded rice. Meanwhile, the job had not been finished. The evil spirits
disappeared. They were scared of light.

Bandung was there alone. When he found out that Roro had used tricks, he
cursed her. He turned her into a stone, which completed the temples, even
today, the statue of Roro Jonggrang remains in the temple.
