ABSTRACT

Structural design is that the primary side of engineering science i.e. Civil Engineering. The
foremost basic in structural engineering is that the style of straightforward basic elements
and members of a building viz., Slabs, Beams, Columns and Footings. so as to design
them, it's vital to initial get the arrangement of the actual building. Thereby counting on the
suitability; arrange layout of beams and also the position of columns. Thereafter, the loads
are calculated that are dead and live.
The project deals with analysis of Multi Storey Parking. Most of the work is done on
software. Softwares used in the project are AutoCAD, Staad Pro V8i and ETabs. Since
mostly software is used it is important to know the software well.
The main objectiv0e o0f the pro00ject is to first ana00lyse and then des00ign the structure
using Staad Pro V8i.Staad Pro is a very advance software used very widely these days to
design various structures with ease and very less time. STAAD.Pro features a state-of-theart user interface, visualization tools, powerful analysis and design engines with advanced
finite element and dynamic analysis capabilities. From model generation, analysis and
design to visualization and result verification, STAAD.Pro is the professionals choice.
STAAD.Pro has very user friendly GUI. One can easily make frames and apply loadings as
per the requirements and then analyze the structure within no time. We analyzed a R.C.C
frame structure with dimensions given by the client in both axes. The y0-axis consists of
floors. Total number of beams and columns are 71 and 42 respectively. Height of each
floor is 3.2 m. The structure was subjected to dead, live, seismic loads. Seismic loads were
calculated using IS 1893.Everything was done using Staad Pro. Once the frame is build and
loadings are also applied then supports are given using the support interface. Fixed support
was given at base of the structure. The codes to be used were also specified with other
design data. The using analyze tool the structure is analyzed.
Once the analysis is done, then comes the part of Post Processing. In that part Deflection,
Shear force, Mode Shapes etc. diagrams are obtained which further enhance our results.

Since we know the design of building is dependent on minimum requirement as per Indian
Code so this helps us in attaining that.
Keeping in mind the end goal to contend in the steadily developing skillful business sector
it is essential for a designer to spare time. Confounded and skyscraper structures require
exceptionally time taking and lumbering figurings utilizing ordinary manual techniques.
In this way, the STAAD.Pro programming gives us a quick, proficient, simple to utilize
and precise stage for dissecting and outlining structures.

INTRODUCTION

Project Aim:
To design and analyze a Multi Storey Parking for residential as well as commercial usage
using Staad Pro and some manual Calculations.

Scope:
The primary extent of this anticipate is to apply classroom learning in this present reality
by outlining a multi-story stopping. These building require expansive and clear ranges
unhampered by the segments. The vast floor territory gives adequate adaptability and
office to later change in the creation design without real building adjustments. The
parkings are developed with satisfactory headroom for the utilization of an overhead
voyaging crane.

General:
STAAD Pro. V8i is the most well-known basic building programming item for model era,
examination and multi-material configuration. It has a natural, easy to understand GUI,
perception devices, capable investigation and outline offices and consistent coordination to
a few other demonstrating and plan programming items. The product is completely perfect
with all Windows working frameworks yet is advanced for Windows XP.
For static or element investigation of scaffolds, control structures, installed structures
(passages and courses), channel racks, steel, solid, aluminium or timber structures,
transmission towers, stadiums or some other straightforward or complex structure, STAAD

Pro. has been the decision of configuration experts around the globe for their particular
examination needs.
Our undertaking includes investigation and outline of multi-story parking utilizing an
exceptionally prominent planning programming Staad Pro V8i.

Staad Pro has numerous advantages. Some of them are:

suitable degree of wellbeing, they ought to maintain every one of the heaps and distortions
of ordinary development and utilize and have satisfactory sturdiness and sufficient
imperviousness to the impacts of seismic and wind. Structure and basic components might
ordinarily be composed by Limit State Method. Record ought to be taken of acknowledged
hypotheses, examination and experience and the need to plan for solidness. Plan, including
outline for strength, development and use in administration ought to be considered all in
all. The acknowledgment of outline destinations requires consistence with unmistakably
characterized gauges for materials, creation, workmanship furthermore support and
utilization of structure in administration.
The outline of the structure is reliant on the base prerequisites as endorsed in the I S Codes.
The base prerequisites relating to basic wellbeing of structures are secured by method for
setting down least loads which must be expected for dead loads, forced burdens, and other
outside burdens, the building should manage. Strict adjustment to stacking gauges
prescribed in this code, it is trusted, won't just guarantee the basic security of the structures
which are being outlined

IS: 1893 (Part 1) - 2002, Indian Standard Criteria for Earthquake

Resistant Design of Structures, (Part 1-General Provisions and Buildings),

It manages evaluation of seismic burdens on different structures and quake safe

configuration of structures. Its fundamental procurements are appropriate to structures;
raised structures; modern and stack like structures; scaffolds; solid stone work and
earth dams; banks and holding dividers and different structures. Provisional
components, for example, platform, interim unearthings need not be intended for
seismic tremor powers.
Outline Lateral Force:
The outline horizontal power should first be processed for the working in general. This
outline sidelong constrain should then be disseminated to the different floor levels.
The general configuration seismic compel subsequently got at every floor level might
then be appropriated to individual horizontal burden opposing components relying
upon the floor stomach activity.

Outline Seismic Base Shear:

The aggregate outline parallel compel or plan seismi c bas e she ar (Vb) along an y main
0

course should be controlled by the accompanying expression:

Vb = A.h.W
Where,
W = seis mic we ight of t he considerable number of floors
0

Basic Nat ural Perio d:

0

The rough basic normal time of vibration (Ta), in seconds, of a moment opposing edge
working without block in the boards might be assessed by the accompanying exact
expression:
8

Ta=0.075 h0.75 for RC outline building

Ta=0.085 h0.75 for steel outline building
Where,
h = Height of working, in m.
This prohibits the storm cellar storey's, the place storm cellar dividers are associated
with the ground floor deck or fitted between the building sections. However, it
incorporates the cellar stories, when they are not all that associated. The rough basic
common time of vibration (T,), in seconds, of every single other building, including
minute opposing casing structures with block lintel boards, might be evaluated by the
exact Expression:
Ta = 0.09H/D
Where,
H = Height of working in m, and
D = Base measurement of the working at the plinth level, in m, along the considered
course of the horizontal power.

IS: 875 (Part 5) 1987 for Load Combinations,

Indian Standard Code of Practice For Design Loads (Other Than Earthquake) For
Buildings And Structures, The different burdens ought to be joined as per the stipulations
in the important outline codes. Without such suggestions, the accompanying stacking
mixes, whichever mix delivers the most unfavourable impact in the building, establishment
or basic part concerned might be received (as a general direction). It ought to likewise be
perceived in burden mixes that the concurrent event of most extreme estimations of wind,
seismic tremor, forced and snow burdens is not likely.

BENDING MOMENT AND SHEAR FORCE GRAPH FOR BEAM NO 114

BENDING MOMENT AND SHEAR FORCE GRAPH FOR COLUMN NO 324

43

The figures shows that the bending moment and the Shear force can be studied fro m the
graphs that are generated by Staad.Pro. The whole structure is shown in the screen and we
may select any member and at the right end of screen we will get the BMD and SFD for
that member. The above figure shows the diagrams for beam member 114 and column
member 324.

So this complete our design of the structure. Now we can easily evaluate each and every
member of the structure and can even change any property of the said structure with ease and
can get even a small detail of any member without any hectic and long calculations.

CONCLUSION
1. This project is mainly concentrated with the analysis and design of multi-storied
building with all possible cases of the loadings using STAAD.Pro Meeting the
design challenges are described in conceptual way.
2. Since present age is the age of technology and everything is getting modernized
then construction works and design work also need to be modernized and these
softwares are nothing but the advancement of the paper work which took so
much time to complete.
3. Not everywhere the design is taken from these software because still previous
methods are considered accurate so these results are used to counter check the
hand results.
4. Further modifications are also possible with very less time consumption and
without going through all the steps used. Hence very time saving and highly
accurate.
5. We may also check the deflection of various members under the given loading
combinations.
6. Further in case of rectification it is simple to change the values at the place
where error occurred and the obtained results are generated in the output.
7. Very less space is required for the storage of the data.
8. STAAD.Pro V8i an advanced software which provides us a fast, efficient, easy to
use and accurate platform for analysing and designing structures.
