SOFiSTiK 2016
Task Description
The SSD task FOOTiNG determined either for given loads the necessary foundation measurements or he leads at predetermined foundation measurements
necessary evidence through. Loads than vertical forces, moments and horizontal forces are taken into account. The design combinations required are automatically formed. Additional stresses second order theory can be considered.
The foundations for a bending design, a push or a tax punching shear are performed. It can be single and strip foundations are processed. When the footings
of a quiver can be arranged.
There is also the opportunity to take on the expense of a Auflagerknoten
SOFiSTiK from a database (eg from the support task COLUMN).
The data entered in a graphically interactive working environment within the
SSD (SOFiSTiK Structural Desktop).
The program FOOT determines the necessary foundation dimensions in dependence on the defined loads and permissible soil pressure. The permissible soil
pressures can be preset or determined from the tables 1 - 6 according to DIN
1054:2010-12 or from self-defined tables. Axial forces, moments and lateral
forces in both directions are allowed as permanent and imposed loads. A bending design and a punching checks is done by the program for the foundation.
Isolated foundation and strip foundation can be calculated here. For isolated
foundations it is possible to defined a sleeve. Additional moments according to
second-order theory and loads acting on sleeve are allowed for the design . If
desired, a picture of the determined foundation including loads can be output.

Input tabs
2.1
System
In the tab System general information about the foundation are set, for example position title and the selection of materials for concrete and steel and all
information for control of the proofs and calculation.
Critical cut: Distance of the critical perimeter for the punching shear.
With the default setting iterative the program automatically calculates
the worst punching cone. For special situations or comparative calculations, alternatively a factor can be entered (e.g. 1.4*d).
Load raise factor: The load raise factor takes into account the effect

Soil
Soil Resistance:
The design values of Soil Resistance can be selected from the Tables
A6.1 - A6.8 (DIN 1054:2010-12).
Soil layers:
Several soil layer can be taken into account, they are represented in the
corresponding graphic.
Additional loads:
An uniform additional load can be defined for the Foundation.
2-6
Permanent: The load will be consider as permanent for the soil verification.
Variable: every soil verification will be perform once with the variable load

2.6
Design conditions
The security factors for load Actions and soil proofs are set in this tab. The
predefined values are assigned according to the Design Code and usually they
should not be changed.

2.7
Loads
In tab Loads take place the load input, which can be set manually or automatically from the corresponding reactions stored in the database(CDB). Additional
influences for Second Order Theory (M, H) can be agregated to the table.
These will be consided for the determination of the load conbinations.
The loads can be taken over the Program COLUMN selecting the corresponding Node.
The support reactions will be taken from the Database (CDB) and the
Load Combinations for the different proofs will be generated with help
of the Superposition Program MAXIMA. Additional influences for Second
Order Analisys (M, H) can be included in the table.
The loads can be assigned through Node selection also in case of a general 3D System.
The support reactions will be taken from the Database (CDB) and the
SOFiSTiK 2016

Load Combinations for the selected Nodes will be generated automatically. When several Nodes are selected, they will share the same Mark
and a common Foundation will be determinated for those Nodes.

2.8
Output
The standard results output is short and clear. The most relevant Load Combinations and proofs are included by default.
Specially for bearing failure verification, there are additional output options and
graphics to improve the understanding of the results.
All Load Combinations used during the calculation can be printed out.

The indications are described in Heft 240 DAfStb page 25-27. A coordinate
system in clockwise direction is preset for the load definition. The positive Z axis
shows in direction of the axial forces.
A system values, like foundation sides, column sides, foundation thickness and
static heights are specified in cm. The loads have to be input in the SI system in
kN and m and the stresses in kN/m2 .
The control of the determination of the foundation size is activated via a definition
of the foundation sides.
The application point of the loads lies in the origin of the local coordinate system
for the foundation. The origin of the Z axis lies at the upper edge of foundation,
for sleeve foundations at the upper edge of the sleeve.

A:B (coulmn dimensions = aspect ratio)
The calculation for the determination of the foundation dimensions can be controlled by the proportions of the sides BX and BY. If BX or BY < 0, then this
5-16
SOFiSTiK 2016
values is modified. The program starts the iteration with the absolute value.
BX > 0, BY > 0
The input foundation dimensions are not modified. A comparison with the permissible soiol pressures is not done. The soil pressures are determined with
the defined foundation dimensions and the defined loads. It follows the design
and the punching check. If the stability check is not correct, then the foundation
dimensions are increased and an information is printed.
BX > 0, BY < 0
The measure of BX is here not changed. BY is determined in such a way, that
the permissible soil pressures are kept under the available loads.
BY < 0, BY > 0
The measure of BY is here not changed. BX is determined in such a way, that
the permissible soil pressures are kept under the available loads.
BX < 0, BY < 0
BX and BY are determined. In this case the aspect ratio of BX:BY is not modified.
BX = 0, BY = 0
BX and BY are determined. The constant aspect ratio results from the column
dimensions CX:CY.
HI
Foundation thickness inside
Die Fundamenthhe wird am Sttzenrand bzw. am Kcherrand angegeben.
HA

HA must be equal to or less HI.

Both values have to be different and smaller than the foundation thickness.

A rotation can be defined with WI, if the foundation axes are not identically to
those ones of the global coordinate system. The computational fixed point of
the column has not to be identically to the defined point of application of the
loads on the foundation. This can be adapted with the input REP.
