Brief operating instructions

Notes

Please note the following points


Batteries must be correctly inserted in the

battery compartment.
Polarity: 2 batteries + facing upwards,
3 batteries + facing downwards
(See diagram)

Insert battery compartment correctly in the

unit, press down and check whether it has


snapped in.

Insert handpiece support either vertically or

horizontally into the unit.

Insert optical fibre tube into the unit and

screw on with the lock nut as far as it will go.

Notes

Push the grip sleeve onto the optical fibre

tube and snap in firmly. The opening in the


tube and the KaVo logo must line up with one
another.

Push light probe onto the grip sleeve and

snap in. The mark A or B and the KaVo logo


must line up with one another.

Laser probe and handpiece must be planar

when assembled.

To remove the grip sleeve and the laser probe,

turn them axially counterclockwise or clockwise.


Do not pull!

Place handpiece correctly in the handpiece

rest! (magnetic holder)

Each laser probe must be calibrated using the


correct calibration position A, B or C.

Operate ring switch on


handpiece.
The DIAGNOdent automatically switches off when not in use. The
user cannot switch off the unit.

Loudspeaker
The volume of the acoustic signal can be adjusted in four steps using
the key with the loudspeaker symbol.

Adjust volume
from step 1 to 4.

Loudspeaker off.

Memory areas
Three probes can be calibrated and stored by means of the keys
A, B and C.

Calibration
Each probe must be calibrated
in its own probe position A-B-C.

Press CAL key and release.


0 appears on the display.

Then two digits appear, e.g. 60,


and continuous tone is heard.

Place the probe on the standard


until the same number appears
at Peak.

Check the calibration once a week or after each sterilization, using


the ceramic standard in the sterile cassette. In the event of a deviation
greater than 3 relative to the reference value of the ceramic standard, the
above calibration procedere must be performed.

The display shows b... and


two digits. These must be
identical to the digits printed
on the ceramic standard @
(sterilization cassette).

Battery indicator
Indicator flashes at a power
of approx. 20%.

When the power falls below 20%,


the display shows ACC and then LO.
At the same time, an acoustic signal
is heard and the unit switches off.

Please note:
Amalgam/gold fillings have little or no fluorescence (display).
Composites/ceramics/cements emit their own fluorescence which is shown
on the display (display error).
Plaque, tartar and discolorations generally have very high display values.
All deposits must be removed to permit better evaluation.

functions. Before starting the unit for the first time and when it is operated
by persons who are not familiar with the handling of this medical product,
it is essential to read the instructions for use included in the delivery.
