Planner, Team Leader, Turn-a-Round Coordinator, Mech. Technician. Mar 15, 1995 Sep 1, 1998
Wascana Energy (100% Subsidiary of Canadian Occidental), Balzac, Alberta T0M 0E0

Acting System administrator for the Datastream maintenance management software

system.
As Turn-Around Coordinator and planner, I was responsible for the daily updates to
the timelines.

Responsibilities included contractor selection for major projects (rotating equipment)

and the 1998 Turn-a-Round.
Worked with Wascana Energy IT department regarding the selection of an
appropriate CMMS software package.
Developed an Access parts database and supervised summer students who provided
the data entry from an existing card system.

Highlights

1. As the Turn-Around coordinator and planner for the 14-day shutdown I was asked
by the complex manager on the 8th day if I could cut 2 days off of the schedule. We
managed to complete the last hot alignment and get the blower and turbine recoupled just minutes before the reaction furnace blower was required.
2. I was asked by the Wascana IT department to represent the company at a
Computerized Maintenance Management System Workshop. I had about 15minutes notice that I would be doing this. I successfully convinced the other
participants from the company that the Datastream MP2 software was the best
package to go with.
3. My previous experience with compressors provided me with the knowledge to know
that the original compressor configuration needed to be changed. I took my case to
upper management and got permission to bring in an outside company to model the
compressor configuration and then re-model it with what I had in mind. It was a
hard sell to management but I was given the permission to go ahead with the
changes. We were runing 4 KVSR integral units, I had new compressor pistons
manufactured and installed and when the unit was put back in service, the second
unit which was compressing gas from the same field was shut down without any
loss in production. I was told to go ahead with the modifications to the other 3 units,
and in the end we were only running two machines. The savings was in the millions.
I was asked to put on a presentation for management from the Calgary office.
