Classroom Rules and Procedures
I. Entering the Classroom

You are not to stand or wait around in the hallway if the door is open or I am
standing at the threshold greeting incomers.

Enter the room quietly without running or pushing

Take your assigned seat

Copy the Do Now assignment from the board into your notebook.

Work quietly and by yourself

Wait for further instructions from the teacher

II. If You Are Late


A. You are late to class if you are not in the classroom by the time that the bell rings.

Walk in quietly making as little noise as possible

Sign in at the Tardy Sheet. (Name, Date, Time)


o If you have a pass still sign the tardy log and hand me your pass

Take your assigned seat

Join in activity in progress.


o If you do not know what the class is doing, raise your hand until the
teacher sees you

Continue working (waiting) quietly until I get to your desk

B. Consequences for Tardiness is explained in the Student Handbook


III. If You Are Absent
A. It is your responsibility to make-up any assignments or tests in a timely manner
when you return from an absence. All classwork will be posted on the Weebly site
so it is your responsibility to find your missing work, notes and/or homework
IV. Turning in Assignments
A. The teacher will sometimes collect homework, group-work or individual work.
You will turn these in only when the teacher asks for them. Make sure the
assignment has your FULL NAME, PERIOD NUMBER, SUBJECT AND
DATE. This should be on the top margin of your paper.

V. End of Class Dismissal


A. Privileged Time If the class has followed classroom rules and procedures to the
teachers satisfaction, class will end 5 minutes before the bell. At that time,
students will check to see if the rows are in order, if there is any paper or trash on
the floor and if all materials have been returned. If everything is in place,, the
class may have the last five minutes of class as Privileged Time.
This time may consist of:

Talking quietly

Writing notes

Passing notes

Reading

Doing work for another class

Doing make-up work

Listening to music

This time may not consist of:

Standing near the door

Yelling/Screaming

Physical contact such as pushing or throwing objects

VI. When the Classroom has a Visitor


A. When we have someone come into our classroom that is not a part of our class
(teacher, administrator, student, parent) you are expected to follow the same
classroom rules and procedures.
You are expected to be polite to the visitor.
You are expected to continue your work as usual
B. If the visitor has to speak with me privately, you are expected to remain in your
seat without talking until I finish speaking with him/her.
VII.

When You Finish Early


A. If you finish your work early and there is no additional work for you to complete
for the day, you may
Read independently

Work on an assignment for another class


Write
Draw
Work on extra credit (if given)
Help others ONLY IF GIVEN PERMISSION from teacher
B. DO NOT DISTURB OTHERS
VIII. Restroom Policy
A. The 15/15 Policy
You cannot use the restroom up to 15 minutes after class has started or 15
minutes before the end of class.
You may go to the restroom only if:

You have finished all of your assigned work

The class is working on Individual Seat work

You have not abused this privilege in the past

A. Be Respectful
Respect the teacher when asked to do something
Refrain from talking back
Do not touch property without permission
Follow classroom rules
Respect classmates
B. Come Prepared
Have your binder/folder, laptop, notebook and writing utensil
Come ready to learn, leaving outside drama outside of the class
C. Participate
Actively engage in classroom discussions, test review, classwork, etc.
Stay on task and keep the goal in sight
D. TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK!!!
Do your best at all times!
