Lebron James to stop playing basketball
for a season to protest the police shooting
at 12-year old boy and not even needing
to go on trial.
Show students a video providing
background on the Tamir Rice shooting.
Tell students to read the article about
#NoJusticeNoLeBron and have them write
an article summary using at least 30
words. Tell students they have 10 minutes.
Have students share their summaries.
Tell students that our essay topic for this
week will be: Do you think that LeBron
James should take a more active role in
speaking out against injustices?

Tell students that you want to hear what they


think about athletes being activists.

Set up tables with strongly


agree/agree/disagree/strongly disagree
Explain to students that they will listen to
some statements about athletes and
activism and decide to what extent they
agree or disagree with the statement.

responsibility to be positive role models to
