16th August- Remembering The Great Calcutta Killings

Mr. Jinnah was from a Gujarati Hindu family.

When a Hindu is converted to a Muslim, it doesnt mean only one member of us less, but an
enemy more! Swami Vivekananda.
His
words were so much true! Lets discuss how he became an enemy of the Hindus, and how much
of damage he caused. Educated in English, he drank wine like water, never did Namaz or Roza in
life, and his favorite dish was pork! He much hated Indian Muslims. Still, since he was highly
educated and intelligent, Rahamat Ali, the man who planned Pakistan met him with the proposal
to start a movement for the above.
But Mr.
Jinnah straight away refused telling, it is an impossible dream!
But Rahamat Ali opened the Quran and showing it said, no, its possible. All the materials
required for awakening the Muslims and the creation of Pakistan are already in the Quran.
Jinnah started thinking about the matter and as a result, after a few years, declared, Pakistan
was already created a few centuries ago, when the first Hindu was converted to Islam!
So according to Jinnah, Pakistan was already there, its materialization was only a matter of time.
On 23rd March, 1940, at the Lahore convention of the Muslim League, Jinnah proposed, the
problem of India is not communal, but national. Its a matter of regret that the Hindus dont
understand the actual nature of Islam and Hinduism. Muslims and Hindus are not only different
religions, but actually opposing nations. There is no doubt that Muslims and Hindus get
inspiration from completely different histories. A great leader of one is the enemy of the other.
Muslims are NOT a minority, they are a separate nation. All the materials required to create a
nation are present in them. So they have a right to their separate living space.
(V. P. Menon, Transfer of Power, page 82).
Exactly 10 days later, on 6th April, 1940, Mr. Gandhi wrote in the Harijan magazine in his
support, like all the other population groups in the country, Muslims also have the Right to Self
Determination. At present, we are like a Joint Family, any family member can ask for a partition.
Mainly these 2 events led to the partition back in 1940, it was only realized in 1947.
To ensure that Muslims do not forget their demand, Mr. Gandhi on 18th April, 1942, again wrote
in the Harijan magazine, if majority Muslims have the opinion that Muslims are a separate
nation, and have nothing similar with Hindu and other communities, then there are no power in
the world that can prevent them and if the majority of them want, then surely the country have to
be partitioned. But if the Hindus want, they can oppose it.
Jinnah saw here an excellent opportunity, there was not much opposition to his demand from the
Hindus, instead, he enjoyed enough support and sympathy from their leader, Mr. Gandhi.
In 1944, there were a number of meetings between Mr. Jinnah and Mr. Gandhi.
Mr. Gandhi told him, I am not an enemy of you or of Islam. I am your humble servant. Please
dont send me away!
Jinnah was overjoyed at this helpless surrender and planned how to seize his target. Jinnah
already understood he cant get anything by discussion alone, he needed to go into action. On
28th July, 1945, at the Bombay national convention, Jinnah declared 16th August as the Direct

Action day.
He said, Muslims will not compromise with anything but Pakistan. Now the time has come for
us to go for a direct action. We have taken a historical decision. Since the Muslim League was
established till today we had been asking for our demands in constitutional the path. But today
the time has come to give up the constitutional path. Today we have a pistol in our hand and we
know how to use it! (Foundation of Pakistan, Pirzada, Page 560)
The
Preparations: In Bengal in 1946, the population of Muslims were 55%, and Hindus were 45%.
So Muslim League easily defeated the Congress and captured the power in Bengal. Suhrawardy
became the chief minister of the Muslim League government. The Home department was also in
his hands. This executioner took the responsibility of the realization of Jinnahs direct action on
his shoulders.
On 5th August, 1946,
Suhrawardy wrote in the Statesman, violence and bloodshed are not crimes, if they are done for
a good cause. For the Muslims today, nothing is more important than obtaining the demand for
Pakistan.
On the same day,
Khwaja Nazimuddin, who later became the chief minister of East Bengal, said in a meeting of
the Muslim National Guards at the Muslim Institute, its a matter of great luck that the battle is
starting in this month of Ramzan. Because Allah had ordered to do Jihad in the month of
Ramzan.
