RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research in common parlance refers to a search for knowledge. Once can also define
research as a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic. In
fact, research is an art of scientific investigation. Research Methodology is a way to
systematically solve the research problems. It may be understand as a science of studying
how research is done scientifically. The methodology of the study would include conducting
research with target audience as the Employees from Landmark Groups, Kuwait. This
includes primary data collection by person administered survey for analysis and final
interpretation of data.
Research comprises defining and redefining problems, formulating hypothesis or
suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data; making deductions and
reaching conclusions; and at last carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they
fit the formulating hypothesis
3.2 AREA OF STUDY
The study conducted at Landmark Groups, Kuwait, which is big organization with
more than 10000 employees all over the world.
3.3 PERIOD OF THE STUDY
The study period covered the period of three months.
3.4 POPULATION OF THE STUDY
The targeted population is 110 respondents, are mainly from working employees in
Landmark Groups, Kuwait.
3.5 RESEARCH DESIGN
A research design is the arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data
in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in
procedure. The researcher used Descriptive research design, because it helps to describe

a particular

situation prevailing within a company. Descriptive

study was necessary

to ensure the complete interpretation of the situation and to ensure minimum bias in the
collection of data.
3.6 SAMPLE SIZE:
For a research study to be perfect the sample size selected should be optimal i.e. it should
neither be excessively large nor too small. Hence the sample size selected for the study was
110 employees of Landmark Groups, Kuwait
3.7 DATACOLLECTION METHOD:
Both the Primary and Secondary data were used in the project. In this research the primary
data was collected by means of a Structured Questionnaire. Data which has already gone
through the process of analysis or were used by someone else earlier is referred to secondary
data. Secondary data was collected from the books, journals, company records, website, and
magazine etc.
3.8 TOOLS USED
This study deals with various technical tools to interpret the data collected. After data
collection special software SPSS16.0 is applied to analyze the data. The appropriate statistical
tools and techniques used are
3.8.1 PERCENTAGE ANALYSIS
Percentage method refers to a specified kind which is used in making comparison between
two or more series of data. Percentages are based on descriptive relationship. It compares the
relatives items. Since the percentage reduces everything to a common base and thereby allow
meaning comparison.
Percentage = Number of respondents in each clause/ Total no of respondents x 100

3.8.2 WEIGHTED AVERAGE:

The weighted average is similar to an arithmetic mean of a set of numbers in which some
elements of the set carry more importance (weight) than others.
Weighted Average=

sum of weighted terms

Total numbers of terms

3.8.3 CHI-SQUARE ANALYSIS

The Chi square test procedure tabulates a variable into categories and computes a chi-square
statistic. This goodness-of-fit test compares the observed and expected frequencies in each
category to test that all categories contain the same proportion of values or test that each
category contains a user-specified proportion of values. Statistical method to test whether two
(or more) variables are : (1) independent or (2) homogenous. The chi-square test for
independence examines whether knowing the value of one variable helps to estimate the
value of another variable. The chi-square test for homogeneity examines whether two
population have the same proportion of observations with a common characteristic.
X2= (O-E)2// E
Degree of freedom= v=(R-1)(C-1)
Where,
O= observation frequency
E= expected frequency (column total x row total)/grand total
R= no of rows
C= no of columns
