TEACHING COMPETENCIES
As a classroom teacher I am competent in the following areas:
Maintain information and anecdotal records with regard to each student and any needs
or concerns relating to their classroom performance.
Contact parents or caregivers with any issues relating to an individual student This often
helps to simplify and resolve problems especially those related to communication difficulties.
Discuss difficulties or misunderstandings with individual students in order to solve them and develop a
better relationship with them.
Attempt to learn about each students interests and life for the same reasons.
Work as a team member within the school and always try to be cooperative and sensitive
to other colleagues and their needs. I ask for feedback from colleagues to ensure that I am
working harmoniously within the team
Discuss modifications and innovations with other team members before implementation.
Act on requests made by my line manager as soon as possible
Within the Design and Technology Department, I work collaboratively with my co-workers to plan
and develop learning programmes and construct efficient systems by which to run the Department.
We share workloads and agree on this shared responsibility through discussion and consensus.
