ASSIGNMENT TITLE:
Characterizations of Material Properties using Specific Diagnostic Tool

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
In this assignment, each group of students is required to do literature review and evaluate a specific
property of a self-chosen material/sample in a typical field of study measured using a different
diagnostic tool that was assigned.
EXPECTED OUTPUT:
By the end of the assignment, each group is required to do a presentation on the assignment and
submit the presentation slides which contain the following sections:

Assignment cover page (soft-copy is given)

Presentation slides (soft-copy of the slides template is given):
o Introduction
(include brief introductions on the tool, type of measured sample for which kind of study,
and type of properties measured from the sample using the tool, and etc.)
o Objectives
(include the specific objectives of your assignment)
o Working Principles/Instrumentation
(include the schematic and image of instrument, explain the basic operation from front to
end probing source, how the source measure the sample, interaction between the source
and the sample or the processes happen within, type of signal produced and being
detected, kind of results obtained, what are the results tell on the properties of the film,
and etc.)
o Applications/Sample Requirements
(include the main applications of the tool, types of properties measured, sample
preparation or requirement prior measurement, and etc.)
o Advantages/Limitations
(include the elements can be detected or not detected, and etc.)
o Analysis/Evaluations (main focus of the assignment)
(include 5-6 results obtained from the measurement tool on specific samples in similar
field of study, explain or analyze the results, and compare or evaluate among the 5-6
results you have, and etc.)
o Conclusion
(include the summary of your assignment)
o References
(include not less than 10 references, the citations must follow strictly on the standard
format as given below)
