Introduction
Nowadays, activated carbons due to their structural
properties and relatively low cost are among the more
industrial adsorbents. They are widely used for the
separation and storage of gases, the recovery of
solvents, the removal of organic pollutants from
drinking water, the recovery of metal ions from waste
waters (Bansal and Goyal, 2005; Caglayan and
Aksoylu, 2013; Cox et al., 2005; Patric, 1995; Marsh and
Rodriguez-Reinoso, 2006) and as catalysts or catalyst
support (Rubio Gomez et al., 1999; Aksoylu et al., 2001,
2003; Nickolov et al., 2013). As environmental
pollution has been becoming a very serious problem,
the need for the utilization of activated carbon is
