2.4 CourseAimsandRelationshiptoOtherCourses
ACCT1501isofferedbytheSchoolofAccountingandmayformpartofanaccountingmajor,

More specifically, ACCT1501 is concerned with the design and analysis of accounting
information systems. The assumptions and choices made in the design of an accounting
system are explored with particular attention given to financial reporting to external
stakeholders and management accounting which revolves around reporting to internal
stakeholders of the business. ACCT1511 introduces cash flow statements and considers
issues such as recognition and disclosure of financial statement elements, professional
ethics,andaccountingpolicy.Inadditiontothepreparersperspective,italsoconsidersthe
perspective of a user of financial information with an introduction to financial statement
analysisandmanagerialdecisionmaking.

Taken together, these two courses seek to develop technical competence in recording
