Answer: NPP5 is a relevant National Privacy Policy to

manage the personal information in business. NPP5
openness is a document.
4. Explain why it is important for organisations to have a Privacy Policy and

what the implications are when an organisation does not properly manage
and secure data.

Answer: Privacy Policy is a document which contains

information about the organization which secure the
information of the organization from any stealing and
breaching.
5. What are the key elements that would be contained in a Privacy policy?
Answer:

The key elements of a privacy policy are:

The kind of personal information the organisation holds
The main purposes for which the organisation uses that
information
The steps a person needs to take to if they think the
organisation may hold personal information about them and they
wish to get access to
Other statements regarding how the organisation conforms to

6. Read or listen to Article 1 Privacy Legislation and answer the

following questions:
a) How can a photograph be considered personal information?
Answer: Photograph can be used to identify the person so it
is a personal information.
b) Explain the challenges that the Internet presents challenges to

privacy lawmakers, particularly for sites which are hosted overseas.

Answer: In Australia, there is no privacy law to protect the

websites which are run by company or individuals in overseas
even they contain the information about Australias so internet is
a biggest challenges to lawmakers.
7. Read or listen to Article 2 Privacy issues and IT and answer the
following questions:
a) The article states Collection of personal information must be lawful and relevant to
the intended purpose. Which is the relevant National Privacy Principle?

Answer: NPP1 collection

b) Once the information is collected, it must be stored securely. Give

examples of the procedures that IT staff should follow to ensure that

this happens.

Answer:
Data and information should be safe from hackers,
thefts , and computer viruses
Data and information should not be kept for any longer
than necessary
Advices should be taken before deleting the
information
c) Describe how the loss of a laptop can lead to the loss of security for
personal information. What is one method you might recommend to
prevent the loss of security for this data?

Answer: Laptop may contains the personal information of

the owner such as Date of birth , medical reports, bank
details etc which are most crucial information and that can
be used by another person for different purposes. Restricting
the ability of users to make changes to databases is an important
security feature. However, there should be some ability for
authorised system administrators to make necessary changes.

d) Under the Privacy Act, are people allowed to ask for access to
their personal information? Which is the relevant National
Privacy Principle?

Answer: Yes, but there should be a particular specified

circumstances. It is NPP 6 Access.
