Tests/Projects:
The CPM program is designed to show mastery over time, thus a large portion of
each test will contain concepts from previous chapters. Students will generally complete
a team test, and an individual test at the end of each chapter. Projects will also be given
each semester to deepen students understanding of a particular topic.
Quizzes/Team Tests:
Individual quizzes will be given often. Further, given such a large objective of this
course is to develop collaboration skills, there will be several team tests for students to
complete. They are asked to each turn in their own test, but to discuss with their team
how to solve the task they are given.
Homework:
Homework assignments will be given and checked daily. This means students
should expect to have homework every night, and be ready to turn it in the following day
unless otherwise noted. Students should keep all homework in their binders, unless they
have been told to turn it in. Students must write the problem number next to their work,
write legibly, and provide satisfactory justification or explanations for their answers when
necessary. Students will receive a 100% (all problems attempted with little to no errors),
75% (most problems attempted, but errors in work), 50% (few problems attempted with
many errors) or an incomplete/zero for each homework assignment. Incomplete
homework assignments might be allowed, with teacher permission, to be redone for
partial credit, but will turn into a zero after two days if the student has not redone the
assignment.
Classwork/Participation:
Students will receive a grade of 1 to 4 at the end of each week based on the
following:
o Student stays on task and helps group complete each task
o Student actively taking notes and records answers in his/her own binder
o Student completes all of the given tasks required for each day

Class Policies/Procedures:
Assessment Retake Policy:
With my permission, students are allowed to retake assessments within a given
period of time following the assessment date. A retake consists of the following:
o Student first meets with me to discuss common errors and corrections
o Student fully completes and turns in the Quiz/Test Corrections template
(available on my website) by the given due date
A student may only receive up to half of the points he/she missed on the original
assessment after completing a retake. These additional points will be added to the
students original score.
Attendance, Absences, and Make-Up Work:
Attendance is crucial to your success in this course. Students should be in their
seats beginning their work when the bell rings. Tardiness will receive a warning the first
time, and a detention after that.
Following an absence, students will be given two days to complete work without
penalty. Students should contact me, another classmate, check my website, or the
Google Classroom to determine what notes were missed and/or which assignments are
due. Any handouts or assignments given in class will be put in the students red Missing
Work folder for him/her to retrieve. Students are responsible for obtaining and
completing the makeup work. Any missed quiz or test will be given before or after
school, and the day and time will need to be set up with me.
Food and Drinks:
Small snacks are allowed in the classroom after asking my permission since some
students may have food allergies. Bottled water is also permitted, but NO COLORED
BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED. Students must also throw out all garbage before the end
of the period.
Leaving the Classroom:
Students are expected to use the restroom during passing time, and will, therefore,
only leave class to use the restroom in emergency cases. Students may also request
permission to visit the nurse, and will be given a pass. Students will only leave class to
go to the guidance office if they were given a pass from their guidance counselor.
Students are required to sign out on the sheet near the door prior to leaving, indicating
the date, name, destination, time out and time in.
Cell Phones: At the start of EVERY class, after entering the classroom, students will
place their cellphones in a bin where they will remain until the bell rings. If a student
fails to comply with this rule, he/she will first be reminded of the policy with a warning.
After that warning the student will be given detention and his/her parents will be notified.
If any further offences occur, administration will be informed.
Academic Honesty:
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible
manner in my class at all times. Any student caught cheating or copying others work
will receive a zero for the assignment or test, a detention, an automatic referral to the
office and their parents/guardians will be notified. No exceptions. Cheating will only hurt
you, so please, just dont do it.
