AIR TRAFFIC REPORT MARCH, 2015

Aircraft Movements
In the month of March 2015, total aircraft movements at all Indian airports were 140.07 thousand.
This shows growth of 3.9% over the corresponding month of previous year. Overall aircraft
movements up to March in the current financial year also indicate growth of 4.3%. Growth in
International aircraft movements, for the month of March 2015, was 2.8% and same percentage
growth has been observed for the period April to March, 2014-15. Growth in Domestic aircraft
movements, for the month of March 2015, was 4.2% and 4.7% growth has been observed for the
period April to March, 2014-15.

Passengers
Total passenger traffic at all Indian airports in the month of March, 2015 was 16.83 million
indicating growth of 15.4% over the corresponding month of previous year. Passenger traffic up to
March in the current financial year also indicates growth of 12.5 %. Growth in International
passengers traffic for the month of March was 7.8% whereas 9.0% growth has been observed for
the period April to March 2014-15. Growth in Domestic passengers traffic for the month of March
was 18.4% and 13.9% growth has been observed for the period April to March 2014-15.

Freight
During the month of March 2015, total freight at all Indian airports was 220.47 thousand MT. This
shows growth of 3.9% over the corresponding month of previous year. Overall freight up to
March, in the current financial year, also indicates growth of 11.0%. Growth in International
freight for the month of March was 2.0% and 6.9% growth for the period April to March 2014-15.
Growth in Domestic freight for the month of March was 7.3% whereas 18.0% growth for the
period April to March 2014-15.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR 2014-15:


The passenger traffic has crossed 190 million mark and has achieved 190.10 million
(50.80 million International and 139.30 million Domestic) during 2014-15.
IGI Airport, Delhi has handled highest number of total passenger of 40.99 million
followed by Mumbai Airport 36.63 Million during 2014-15.

The freight traffic has crossed 2.5 million MT mark (1.5 million MT International and
1.0 million MT Domestic) during 2014-15.
Aircraft movement has crossed 1.6 million marks (0.34 million International and 1.26
million Domestic) during 2014-15.
Delhi Airport, has handled highest freight traffic of 0.70 million MT closely followed
by Mumbai Airport 0.69 Million MT during 2014-15.
Eastern Region has recorded highest growth of 16.8% in total passenger handling
followed by Southern Region 14.8%, Western Region 13.2% and Northern Region
10.8%. North East Region has recorded the negative growth rate of 11.9% in total
passenger handling during 2014-15.
Northern Region has witnessed the highest growth of 14.6 per cent in total freight
traffic followed by Southern Region with 11.2 per cent , Eastern Region with 9.1 per
cent, Western Region with 8.3 per cent and North East Region with 1.0 per cent in
total freight handling during 2014-15.
