Diagnostic Assessment
Screening and Diagnosis
Use your state or district screener to identify children at risk. In addition, see
tests in our Diagnostic Assessment book for information on determining the
proficiency of children according to a specific standard or prerequisite skill.
Diagnostics should be given during the first unit after you have had time
to observe children and they become familiar with classroom routines.
Use the diagnostics to determine children in need of intervention or to
identify specific prerequisite skill deficiencies that you need to teach
during Small Group differentiated instruction time.
