Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, friends, and family we have now come to a

time to partake the Lords Supper, or the Holy Communion. As the ushers pass
around the elements of bread and wine, we would like to invite all who truly
know Christ as their personal Saviour to partake together in the Lords Table.
Partaking the Holy Communion is a reminder for us who were once sinners but
now save by His blood and his sacrifice for us on the cross. On the night when he
was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks for it. Then he
broke it in pieces and said, this is my body which is given for you. Do this is in
remembrance of me.
Many times, this verses seems familiar to us because it is always mentioned
during the holy communion service and we are often reminded to partake the
communion in a worthy manner where one would examine ourselves.
But when I was reading this verse, I realised that many things happen during the
last supper. It was during the last supper that Jesus mentioned that one of his
disciples will betray him and that was Judas Iscariot.
It was also at that moment when Peter said that he was willing to go to the
prison with Him and Jesus told him that he will deny Jesus three times later that
night.
Jesus clearly knew what would happen on that table but yet he offered his body
as a sacrifice to everyone on that table and even to the one who was gonna
betray him. This reminds me how wretched a human life can be. We will never be
righteous in the eyes of God as it is shown in the life of Peter that night. Our
salvation is not by our own strength and not by works. We can publicly claim our
love for Jesus but only him truly know our darkest struggles and it is by his grace
that he has allowed to be here to take the communion even without us realising
our true condition. And it is by his grace that he forgive and restore us like how
he has forgiven Peter for denying him.

Let us take moment to reflect our life and our journey with him this far.
Let us pray
Father Lord, we thank you for your great love when you send your son to die on the cross. No
other name but your name that can save. We thank you that you came and offer your love to
us even when are still in darkness and we thank you that your love and grace has allowed us
to accept you to enter the kingdom of heaven. Even when you clearly knew that Judas and
Peter would disappoint you on that table but yet you chose to continue with the supper and
like Peter, we truly do not deserve such forgiveness for we have often and many times fail
and disappoint you. Even before we knew that we will fail you.
We thank you for the Holy Communion and let us be continuously reminded of your great
love have saved us. In jesus name we pray, Amen

Let us partake the bread and cup together.
