Explain that sequence of events means putting the story in order, often using key words
such as first, next, then, and last.

Provide the spelling list and choice board, and demonstrate how to use the choice board.
Provide vocabulary list and model how to define the words and practice them.
Provide students with a demo of the MyOn website.
Model reading part of a selection and putting the events in order.

Students will work in pairs to read the rest of the story and discuss the order of events.
After a whole group summary, students will work in pairs to answer questions 1 and 2 for
Coyotes Song, which are based on the sequence of events.
Students will read a series of events and number them in order. Then, write the events in
the correct order in the form of a story (organizing the events into separate paragraphs).

Students will be assessed on their reading fluency and vocabulary acquisition (pg 249)
using the Reading Wonders diagnostic assessments.

problem and summarize the solution.
Students who scored below the 50th percentile on the fluency test and below 80% on the
comprehension test will take the phonics survey.
