MBA Alumni
UCs MBA has an active alumni network reaching 700 strong as the programme entered its 30th Anniversary
in 2014
Choosing to do an MBA at UC is
one of the best investment
decisions I have ever made.
As an individual who is looking to become
a distinguished business leader capable of
making sound business decisions, an MBA was
an obvious choice. I chose to do it at University
of Canterbury because UC offers a unique
horizontal learning environment under the
guidance of veteran consultants.
Learning and working on practical and real
business problems with a group of highly
experienced business leaders from various
industries was both challenging, intensive
& although hard to imagine, fun. I value the
knowledge I have gained in the environment
because I came out with a deeper insight of
whom I am and where I want to go.
As a recent graduate of UC MBA, I have found
myself more business savvy with lots of career
options. This has given me the confidence
and opportunity to go out there and do what
I am passionate about, which is helping solve
business issues. With my newfound knowledge,
together with two other UC MBA graduates, we
have created Creative Intelligence Consulting.
Using the frameworks and insights we have
gained from the UC MBA course, we help
businesses resolve their growth challenges.

This shift has seen a significant growth in
demand for qualified accounting professionals
globally across all industries. In New Zealand,
over 70% of all listed companies now have a
qualified Chartered Accountant on their Board.
With recent national and global litigation
indicating a greater need for higher levels
of accounting and financial skills at the
senior management level, the demand for
accounting professionals is predicted to increase
exponentially.
The School of Business and Economics (rated
second in New Zealand for Accounting in the 2013
Performance Based Research Funding results) has
responded by offering the MPA. As a conversion
masters programme, the MPA requires no prior
knowledge of accounting, as it takes you through
high-level and engaging teaching methods of
current accounting principles and processes.
As a MPA graduate, you will have the skills,
competencies, and qualifications required to
gain provisional membership to Professional
Accounting bodies such as the New Zealand
Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) and
CPA Australia.

developed using population as a base. Cities of a similar size will have similar characteristics
