I). PAINT SPECIFICATION


Product description
Prolac Primer ZP
Prolac Undercoat
Prolac Top

: is an alkyd based rust preventing primer, which is generally


used as a quick drying primer in an alkyd system.
: is a single-component, fast-drying enamel finish based on
urethane alkyd resin , for both exterior and interior use.
: is an under coat paint for alkyd Top Color AKC-50600

Application methods
Spray
Brush
Roller

: Use airless spray.


: May be used but care must be taken to achieve the specified
dry film thickness.
: May be used. However when using roller application care
must be taken to apply sufficient material in order to achieve
the specified dry film thickness.

II). SURFACE PREPARATION


1. All oil/grease, dust and other contaminant to surface shall be remove /wash by
fresh water with 250 bar pressure at nozzle. ( add detergent if necessary to
remove oil / grease )
2. All surfaces prepared for coating shall be abrasive blast clean in accordance with
the Swedish Standard SIS 05 5900 or the following:

3. The profile roughness achieved shall be between (Sa 2) 30 85 microns as
measured using Keane Tator Surface Profile Comparator or O-testex film and
profile gauge.
4. Abrasive used for blast cleaning should be dry and free from dirt, oil and grease
and suitable for procuring the standard of cleanliness and profile specified.
5. After blast cleaning removes loose adhering dust, debris and abrasive material
from surface by use of high pressure air blow (should be free of oil and
moisture).

IV). APPLICATION REQUIREMENT


1. All paints should be applied by airless spray/conventional spray except for stripe
coats where brush or roller should in general be used.
2. Efficient mechanical stirrers or power mixer for the correct mixing of paint should
be used wooden stick or something like that is strongly forbidden to use.
3. Available air pressure and capacity for spray equipment should be at least 5.5
kg/cm2 and 1.4 m3 (80 Psi and 50 Cfm).
4. Airless spray equipment must be in good working order and be capable of
performing to be out put requirements defined in the Propan data sheets.
5. It is recommended that pump ratios for 45:1 or greater.
6. Tips should be the size stipulated on the product datasheets or as agreed with
the Propan representatives on site. Tips should not be in a worn condition.
7. Application must take place within the limits of temperatures and humidity
acceptable to Propan.
8. Only thinners and additives supplied by or acceptable to Propan are to be used
and they are not to exceed the quantity recommended. Only solvents acceptable
by Propan are to be used for cleaning equipment.
9. Re-coating time must be follow to TDS. In case re-coating time exceeding than
TDS, more treatment prior to apply next coat shall be done (contact your
Technical advisor).

STORAGE
All paint and thinner shall be kept closed in original, undamaged can before use and
stored under shelter, away from direct sunlight, to keep the air temperature below
25C is the best recommendation, Any paint exceeding shelf life, gelled or in
damage can shall not be used (contact your Technical advisor)

V). PAINT APPLICATION PROCEDURE


Primer Coat
Prolac Primer ZP is an alkyd based rust preventing primer, which is generally used as a
quick drying primer in an alkyd system.
1) Flush equipments with THMAK- 90600 .
2) Stir Prolac Primer ZP with an explosive-proof power mixer to an even consistency.
3) Apply a wet coat in even parallel passes. Overlap each pass 50% to avoid bare areas
pinholes or holidays.
4) Thinning normally not required. Thin only for workability with not more than 10 % by
volume of THMAK - 90600 .
5) In confined areas, observe safety rules as in PROPAN "Industrial Hygiene-Safety
Rules during Paint Application".
6) Clean all equipment with THMAK 90600 immediately after use to prevent clogging of
material in hose and spray equipment.
7) Uncured paint should not be exposed to water, chemicals or mechanical stress before
the paint is fully cured.
8) Minimum re-coating interval must be follow to TDS ( 10 hours at 30C, 4 hours at
23C, 7 hours at 10C ).
Top Coat
Prolac Top is an alkyd based rust preventing primer, which is generally used as a quick
drying primer in an alkyd system.
1) Flush equipments with THMAK - 90600 .
2) Stir Prolac Top with an explosive-proof power mixer to an even consistency.
3) Apply a wet coat in even parallel passes. Overlap each pass 50% to avoid bare areas
pinholes or holidays.
4) Thinning normally not required. Thin only for workability with not more than 10 % by
