This teacher is fully certified and/or licensed by the state, has earned at least a bachelors degree and demonstrates
competence in each core academic subject area in which the teacher teaches as required by NCLB legislation (2001) &
Title II-A.
Course Description: Geometry is the second course in a sequence of three required high school courses designed to
ensure career and college readiness. The course represents a discrete study of geometry with correlated statistics
applications.
Standards Based Instruction: This course will include information in compliance with the Georgia Performance
Standards (GPS)/ Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. For complete coverage of this courses standards please
see https://www.georgiastandards.org/
WIDA Standards: Students who are determined to require English language assistance will receive accommodations
from the classroom and ESOL teachers according to the WIDA performance standards in compliance with the WorldClass Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium. See http://www.wida.us/.

*The average derived from these percentages in the teachers grade book will then be averaged with the students
score on the End-Of-Course Test/ final, which will account for 20% of the students final average.

Remediation: At the 9 week mid-term and 18 week final, students who perform well on the standard and material that
was assessed earlier in the semester and received a failing grade can have that grade replaced. Only failed assessments
can be repaired and the highest grade that can be earned is a 70 (See p. 16 Option 2 in CCHS Student Handbook).
Late Work, Absence and Make-up Work:
See p. 15-20 in the CCHS Student Handbook for more details.

Important Issues:
Homework will be given on most days and students are expected to complete all homework assignments.
Homework is an essential step in the learning process. Practicing the skills taught in class will promote a better
understanding of mathematical concepts thus ensuring success on assessments and in the course.
Writing and technology is very important in all subject areas. We will be doing different writing assignments in
our class, as well as incorporating the appropriate use of technology.
Students are responsible for getting class notes from another student when they are absent. It is the students
responsibility to complete and turn in make-up work. When a student misses class, it is wise for him or her to
come in for extra help after school so that we can go over the concepts that the student missed. Students must
makeup missed quizzes and tests before or after school or during extended period.
Students are encouraged to come in for extra help. Often, a few minutes of individual help can result in a student
understanding material that he or she found difficult.
Be sure to refer to your student handbook for progress report dates, report card dates, and exam dates.
Students who do not complete assignments may be assigned an academic referral that will be handled by a school
administrator. The purpose of the referral is to help students end behaviors that will jeopardize their learning and
success in the course.
Expectations and Classroom Rules:
1. Students should behave in an appropriate manner for all students to achieve maximum learning.
2. Students should bring supplies to class each day.
3. Students should be in class and prepared to work when the tardy bell rings. Tardies and absences may disqualify a
student from final exemptions.
4. Students should complete all class and homework assignments. Any work missed due to an excused absence can be
made up. It is your responsibility to see me to make arrangements for work to be made up after school.
5. Keep an organized 3-ring notebook with all assignments and class notes.
6. Students will follow ALL school rules.

Infinite Campus: The fastest and most up-to-date way for parents to track a students progress is to utilize the Parent
Portal piece of the Infinite Campus student information system. To obtain access to Parent Portal parents may pick up a
Parent Portal Registration Form from the CCHS Guidance department or from the school of the youngest child registered
in Colquitt County. Parents who utilized Parent Portal during the 2015-2016 school year do not need to register again.
Important Resources for Parents: Colquitt County High School depends upon parent participation to fuel our School
Improvement Plan. Please utilize the links at http://colquitt.high.schooldesk.net/ to learn about the school improvement
process and parent involvement. Please contact Mrs. Stephanie Terrell, Principal Colquitt County High School with any
comments, questions or suggestions. Also, please refer to the CCHS 2016-2017 student handbook for important rules and
procedures at CCHS.
Students with Disabilities are entitled to appropriate and reasonable auxiliary aids and accommodations through The
Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Colquitt County High School is
committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all persons with disabilities; it is the responsibility of students,
parents, teachers, and administrators to communicate regularly to fulfill requirements linked to the students learning
goals.
