Question 1.1

Why computers would benefit teaching and learning at my school.

INTRODUCTION.

Our school is overcrowded therefore the use of computers in classes will be more convenient for
educators. Looking at the general performance of the learners most of them are under performing.
For instance when other learners are busy with an activity from a computer the educator will be
attending to those who need addition support

Computer can benefit teaching and learning at school because it can make learning easy and more
interesting. Educators recognize that utilizing computer technology can be convenient to create both
Independent and collaborative learning environments. One big difference between teachers and
computers is that computers will never get tired and can repeat the same thing again and again
without complaining. Whatever it is programmed to do, it can do over and over as often as
necessary, which is good, in particular, for slower students. Furthermore, computers can keep
teaching resources for a longer time, which is almost impossible in the traditional classroom. The
teaching resources can then be shared by other teachers and students. Thus computers provided a
platform for the communication between teachers and learners. Students can study more
independently, leaving the teacher more time to concentrate effort on those parts that are still hard
or impossible teaching by computer, such as pronunciation, training for essay writing and
presentation.

1.1.1 The are three man application of computers in education which can benefit
teaching and learning namely:

• Computers as management tools

• Computers and instruction and learning
• Computers in educational research

Computer as management tools

-Can be used to draw budgets
-To store and retrieve student records
-Communication with a district office, neighbouring schools and parents.
-Educators can use software to maintain class lists, absentee record marks
-Data concerning parents and staff members are kept in databases for easy and efficient retrieval.
-Finances and book keeping are easy controlled with software.

Computers and instruction and learning

-The computer keeps tracks of student performance, allowing the educators to manage and control
learning.
-Computer managed instructions offers the advantages of simultaneous compilation, correction
record keeping and analyses of tests and examination papers.
-Can assist learners in expressing themselves and their ideas.

Computers in educational research

-Can be used as research tools
-For researching of assignments
-To search in the internet for the information.

Decision and why.

I chose IMAC 20* 2.66GHZ for it is better its capacity in hard drive is larger than of Samsung and
also the supply modem and LAN installation.

Question 1.4.2.
Needs to be be considered when a computer room is an educational setting

Safely and Security

As our school is situated in an area where most people are unemployed the security at the computer
room will be at the most importance, alarm system should be installed, together with the excess
code, to make sure make sure that no one will have the access without authorisation.

Computers should be neatly installed wires and cables should be tucked away as to allow learner
not to trip over these and damage the computers.

Rules
Eating, drinking, playing and rowdiness in the lab should be prohibed.children and adult. Educators
must not see the rules only, they need to take them into consideration and implement and obey what
the rules say. Collaborative learning should be encouraged by educators, Furniture to be arranged
such that two learners can working comfortable together at a station.

Care and Maintenance

An orientation lesson needs to be done to everybody that is learners, educators and administration
staff. who will make us at the computers to instruct them about the correct handling at the computer
and related hardware and software together with the negligent or malicious damage or abuse of
computers is on the increase.maintainace plan should provided when purchasing the computers
although generally robust, can be fickle at times, and occasionally hardware components may break
down or softed installation may become corrupted.

Viruses and Worms

Computers viruses are created by malicious computer uses as their name implies viruses infect other
computer systems by attaching duplication copies at themselves to other legimate operating system
or applications software with which them come into contact .These should be avoided by
disallowing use supply at diskette or software by learners in the computer centre and by using
antivirus software to combat virus.
