Engineering an 800xA System - Advanced

7.1.1 General Information

In this exercise you will make a copy of the existing operator workplace and you will
modify it for two screen support.
The layout of the two screen support should be as follow:

Screen 1: Plant

Screen 2: Alarm List Plant

7.1.1.1 Objectives
You will:

Copy & paste the existing operator workplace

Modify the workplace for two screen support

Create shortcuts for the plant and the two areas

Create some hot-keys

Test the workplace as operator user

7.1.2 Exercise Steps

7.1.2.1 Copy & paste the existing operator workplace
Copy & paste the operator workplace in the Workplace Structure. Please rename the
new one to Boiler Operator Workplace. From now on we do all the modifications at
the Boiler Operator Workplace.

7.1.2.2 Setup the workplace layout

Open the config view of the Workplace Layout aspect and setup a two screen support
(NO large workplace!). The second screen should not have a Application Bar and a
Status Bar so far.
For each screen we need a workplace panel, one panel for the first screen and one
panel for the second screen. The reason for this is that we want to open different
aspects for each screen, the graphic display from Tank 1 for the first screen and the
alarm list from Tank 1 for the second screen.
For the operator workplace some panels already exist. We want to use two of them:
The AlarmPanelLayout and the GraphicPanelLayout.
Please assign

The GraphicPanelLayout for the first screen

The AlarmPanelLayout for the second screen

7.1.2.3 Modify workplace panels

The workplace panels are located in the library structure. Please open the library
structure and browse for the Workplace Panels. Select the panels from the Operator
Workplace (Operator Workplace Panels).
Please setup

The Alarm Panel Layout, so that this panel starts the Alarm and Event List of
the Plant

The Graphic Panel Layout, so that this panel starts the graphic display from
Tank1 (Tank1 Display)

7.1.2.4 Create shortcut to open Trend Display

Please create a new shortcut aspect for the Tank1 object in the Functional Structure.
Configure the shortcut aspect for opening the main view of the Trend Display from
Tank1.

7.1.2.5 Create a new Hot-Key

The Hot-Keys are stored in the Hot-Keys aspect of the workplace.

Please create new hot-keys for your workplace so that

The key combination <CTRL> + 1 will open the MainFaceplate for the
TIC1 pid function block, faceplate view

The key combination <CTRL> + 2 will open the MainFaceplate for the LT1
analogue in function block, faceplate view.

7.1.2.6 Test the workplace

Please open the workplace for testing the two screen support and all the other settings.
If there exist no second screen, then test only your panel modifications for both panels.
