Background of study: Pneumonia is the first cause of deadly infection on children on the world,
which is 15% of children under five years old were dead because of pneumonia. In 2007, it
reported that the dead of under five years old children cause of pneumonia were reach 15,5%.
East Java is on the fourth position as a province with the number of infection respiration on the
level 28,3%. Kediri is also one of the city with the highest prevalence of Pneumonia level (0,61%) which is 0,7%. One of the risk factor of pneumonia is low weights born baby. Respiration
duct of low weights born baby are not grow perfectly and the imperfect body immune can easily
trigger pneumonia disease on children under five.
Purpose of the study: To know the relation between low weights born baby with pneumonia
disease on children under five.
Method: Observational Analytic by using cross-sectional design. Sample was choosing by total
sampling. Data analysis conducted by using chi-square in the meaningful of if P (0,000) <
(0,05)
Findings and discussion : There are no significant correlation between low weights born baby
with pneumonia disease on children under five, with the significance p (0,591) > (0,05).
Conclusion: There are no significance relation between low weights born baby with pneumonia
disease on children under five.
