ePURE members grew by nearly 70%.

Industrial

Most of the renewable ethanol production growth is taking


place for the EU fuel market, with traditional markets, such
as beverages and industrial applications remaining fairly
stable over the years.

The share of maize as a feedstock to produce renewable ethanol


has grown over the past years. Since 2013, maize has replaced
wheat as the dominant feedstock. In 2014, maize accounted for
42% of all feedstock used by ePURE members.

Imports of ethanol into the EU from most exporting countries


have declined in 2014 compared to the previous year. Bolivia
and Costa Rica being the only notable exceptions.

at a historic low. At the same time the
share of duty free imports grew rapidly in
the past years, reaching nearly 80% of
total ethanol imports in 2014.
