profitability and financial condition, adversely affect the competitive position, increase costs and
expenses, and require substantial expenditures and recovery time in order to fully resume
operations. HP's corporate headquarters and a portion of its research and development activities
are located in California, and other critical business operations and some of its suppliers are
located in California and Asia, near major earthquake faults known for seismic activity. In
addition, six of its principal worldwide IT data centers are located in the southern United States,
making its operations more vulnerable to natural disasters or other business disruptions occurring
in that geographical area. The manufacture of product components, the final assembly of its
products and other critical operations are concentrated in certain geographic locations, including
Shanghai, Singapore and India. HP also relies on major logistics hubs primarily in Asia to
manufacture and distribute its products; and in the southwestern United States to import products
into the Americas region. The company's operations could be adversely affected if
manufacturing, logistics or other operations in these locations are disrupted for any reason,
including natural disasters, information technology system failures, military actions or economic,
business, labor, environmental, public health, regulatory or political issues.Error: Reference

Legal or Regulatory:
HP relies upon patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret laws in the United States, and
similar laws in other countries, and agreements with its employees, customers, suppliers and
other parties, to establish and maintain intellectual property rights in the products and services it
sells, provide or otherwise use in its business operations. However, any of the intellectual
property rights could be challenged, invalidated, infringed or circumvented, or such intellectual
property rights may not be sufficient to permit the company to take advantage of current market
trends or to otherwise provide competitive advantages, either of which could result in costly
product redesign efforts, discontinuance of certain product offerings or other harm to HP's
competitive position. Furthermore, the laws of certain countries do not protect proprietary rights
to the same extent as the laws of the United States. Therefore, in certain jurisdictions HP may be
unable to protect its proprietary technology adequately against unauthorized third-party copying
or use and could adversely affect its competitive position in the global market.Error: Reference
